Thinking about trading, I'd be keen to trade our future first for Carlton's first this year;

Carlton are looking to off load their pick 8 (De Koning compensation) for a future first.

If you're lower or around Carlton in position you wouldn't do it, so we are a likely target given its a fair bet we drop down in a less academy affected draft.

So our future pick 12-14 for pick 8, which will be 10.

We will then have 8 and 14 to target Essendon 4, with a second coming back (Ess 22), or Ricmond 3 and a future 2nd to get Sharp.

If that doesn't work, we are in the range of Marsh or Cumming for our first, then Barker/ Nairn/ LeRay, or Curtin with our second.

We could still do this if we target Oliver, but if Petracca we could offer a 2027 first (Tassie draft and 2025 first), leaving the trade with Carlton open to pick up Cumming.

Usually the perceived value of the future pick needs to be higher than the current pick, in those kind of deals. E.g. Rich/NM draft day trade last year

Don’t think we see a deal like that, even if this draft is weak

Yeah, I think he’s an interesting prospect and worth a look. He was a manchild in juniors and even now is physically very developed and a solid inside mid.

But what’s intriguing is I recall Chris Scott saying in a press conference mid year that they’re really hoping to get him in at some stage as he’s ’probably the best kick on their list’

Athleticism is a major negative but the combo of size, ball winning and ball use is attractive enough to be worth a look.

5 on the bench next year helps this a lot.

Been trying to predict what the 5 bench might open up, can’t help but think there will be a couple of
clubs who nail it with the use of a second ruck or Blicsavs type.
If so our choices to counter scare me without using Thilthorpe more in there.
What Rob dished up post contract signing is just not acceptable.

His defence lawyer has already punched plenty of holes in the victim and her male friend's story apparently according to articles in the Geelong Advertiser. Not sure it's going to be a slam dunk.

Tanner is still in Geelong and has some pretty good and decent people around him. Knowing some of them quite well, I'd be surprised if they would risk their own reputations by standing with an obvious guilty finding.
I'm not sure Tanner plays footy in town again if some of the details become ugly, even with a not guilty finding.

The Geelong advertiser and GFC are entirely reliant on each other. One team town. One paper etc...
The paper is little more than a propaganda machine machine. A bit like Fox News and Trump.

But irrespective of all this, I hope a correct finding is determined in the case so that all parties can accept the verdict and use it to draw a line under a distressing time with the hope of better days in the future.

On a cheerful note, once Brisbane draft Annable and assuming he lives up to the hype, its entirely possible their primary midfield will contain 4 players that they got via f/s and academy for way under real value that equate to probably 3 top 5 picks (ashcroft brothers and possibly Annable) and another 1st round pick (Fletcher).

How on earth can we expect to compete with that leg up
