Usually the perceived value of the future pick needs to be higher than the current pick, in those kind of deals. E.g. Rich/NM draft day trade last yearThinking about trading, I'd be keen to trade our future first for Carlton's first this year;
Carlton are looking to off load their pick 8 (De Koning compensation) for a future first.
If you're lower or around Carlton in position you wouldn't do it, so we are a likely target given its a fair bet we drop down in a less academy affected draft.
So our future pick 12-14 for pick 8, which will be 10.
We will then have 8 and 14 to target Essendon 4, with a second coming back (Ess 22), or Ricmond 3 and a future 2nd to get Sharp.
If that doesn't work, we are in the range of Marsh or Cumming for our first, then Barker/ Nairn/ LeRay, or Curtin with our second.
We could still do this if we target Oliver, but if Petracca we could offer a 2027 first (Tassie draft and 2025 first), leaving the trade with Carlton open to pick up Cumming.
Don’t think we see a deal like that, even if this draft is weak
