There is literally no universe where Rank or Thilly don’t play out their careers at Crom.
There are infinite universes though.

There are universes where Thilthorpe is 18 feet tall and was banned from playing for stepping on other players, for example.

Success certainly follows him

Drafted in 2008, played over 200 games for multiple clubs... and has played in one career finals match

Good point and its hard to argue against.

Its why Marlion Pickett, Billy Frampton and Ben Marsh should be considered better than Buckley, Pavlich, Ablett Snr and Robert Harvey.

But its hard to argue against. I mean who can rate our captain? 156 games and as many finals wins as Liam Jones.

I recall those guys playing in multiple finals but that may be my mind playing tricks

Every team that has had Liam Jones in it has sucked

Have I missed the sarcasm here and you don’t rate him?

Tex isn’t being kept to play SANFL.

They will run with the same forward line structure as they did this year.
Yep. He'll run the same schedule as this year. Rest on the longer trips to Perth and Queensland, but if he's not playing it's cause he's sitting out, not because he's been dropped to the SANFL.

Burgess to play on

I should add context before this goes wild

Burgess got the SANFL award and with Tex playing on we might keep him as back up

Can we start doing PlayStation trades yet?

Butts, 14, 49 and 51 for
Powell, Pink, 20 and 21.

Pink can be a good backup key defender (though an obvious downgrade from Butts) and Powell steps right into midfield opportunities.

We lose a late first but grab two early seconds. Probably NM say no, to be honest.

Look it might be terrible, but it's good fun to stuff around with things like this ...

Tex said tonight “he doesn’t take no for an answer easily” and that with where the clubs at he wants to do whatever he can to help it “whether that’s play 10 games or 15 games”

Read into that what you want

I'm ok with Tex playing on as long as he is properly managed... & means we delist Burgess.
I love the big guy but this was the time to hang the boots up.

If he plays limited games next year and is okay in those, you can bet on him playing finals and especially a grand final.

If we have a good year again, I see a September repeat occuring.

This was the year for Tex to fulfil the premiership dream. We weren't, and he wasn't... good enough.

He might have a reasonable year but I think he hurts us at critical times next year.

I see people using ' The Last Dance '' and variations of it

The only dance Tex will do is the 3am shuffle trying to stay cool and relevant while all the hot girls go home with the studs

Arrrghhh, I’ve stewed on this for a few days but I’m really not impressed this time round at all with Tex foregoing retirement, as despite all the usual ‘Club will never have the balls to make a hard decision on him’ stuff it’s that this time I’m fully of the belief that Tex was actually committed to retirement and only changed his mind real late this time due to the results in the 2 finals games and his ego not being able to take those 2 losses as his last games.

Unlike the previous season if you listened to him on Triple M this year he is either a really great actor or he really sounded like he’d made the decision and was done with football this year. I fear it’s now really seeped into territory where he’s not even fully sure or knows why he’s playing on now, it’s just a habit now which is just going to further confuse and distract the playing group and coaching staff’s plans and continuity moving forward.

Because of Nicks’ lack of wanting to take personal responsibility for things that do go awry if this Tex decision doesn’t play out that great it’ll be interesting to see his terminology as he tries to worm his way out of it, short odds on “worth the risk” being rolled out 🤷🏻‍♂️

It seems ' worth the risk ' is becoming the catch phrase for middling choices

Jack Steele ? Worth the risk
VB as midfield coach again ? worth the risk

As noted Nicks needs to make some hard calls but going by the last 6 years I dont think he can. You need to switch the mate mate off

I am sure he will impact a few games and supporters will feel the decision is vindicated but in the big picture it's really poor from the club to not be strong enough to make the call.

As much as I love Tex, nobody lives in the Crows bubble more than him. Somebody needed to tell him.
