2 after we take Ah Chee. So unless we delist someone else, its going to be a lean draft for us3 main, 1 rookie.

Nah still 3, Ah Chee in PSD doesn’t count towards the 3 mandatory ND selections/rookie upgrades2 after we take Ah Chee. So unless we delist someone else, its going to be a lean draft for us
I wonder who we delist to re rookie?. Maybe sholl? We have to delist/re-rookie someone to take the mandatory 3 picks in the draft. Whether we also upgrade a rookie to only take 2 picks remains to be seen. Will likely be announced before list lodgement on Oct 31.
Yeh only Sholl really makes sense. Or Jones.I wonder who we delist to re rookie?. Maybe sholl?
Nah, we'd have to disagree, Fred has Sid covered skills, composure and footy I.Q wise, just doesn't have Sid's express pace and X factor that's not to say he's slow he's not. Will be a very good AFL player IMO.I see a standard U/18 no pressure ball gatherer. ( I want to see how he handles real pressure)
Outside player , mostly left sided but good on both - good delivery and good awareness
No great knocks but I didnt see any more burst from stoppage than Sid had - and there were times I thought Sid clone
I reckon he ends up a back flanker with good delivery
They wouldn't ask tex if he was happy to do it? I guess that causes a risk of a side actually trying to get him in the rookie draft then which the club does not wantYeh only Sholl really makes sense. Or Jones.
Why not Tex, just for a chuckle and to point out the stupidity of some AFL rules.I wonder who we delist to re rookie?. Maybe sholl?
Yeh but I'm not sure how he got 0.3 down. My calc says its down by 1.375 years per player. 55/40Not even close...
You can see the average list ages here: https://www.draftguru.com.au/lists/2025
Collingwood had the oldest list, with an average of 26.2 years (at whatever cutoff date the site uses). At the other end of the spectrum, Norf players averaged 23.6 years. That's a difference of 2.6 years between top and bottom. Collingwood are a real outlier - 0.8 years older than the 2nd oldest team (Brisbane).
Adelaide averaged 24.8 years, giving us the 7th oldest list (not the bottom half as you asserted). Decreasing Adelaide's average age would only drop us down below Carlton, into a group of teams (Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Fremantle) all on 24.5 years.
Of course, every team's average age will change next year, depending on the age of their departing players and recruited players. We'll need to wait to see the final lists to see where we stand - though I suspect we'll still be around the middle of the pack.
Thats fair. We will wait and seeNah, we'd have to disagree, Fred has Sid covered skills, composure and footy I.Q wise, just doesn't have Sid's express pace and X factor that's not to say he's slow he's not. Will be a very good AFL player IMO.
He is not an outside player either he is a genuine inside/outside mid with a well developed inside game and runs hard both ways whether in possession or not.
Of the genuine mids that are likely to be available at our 1st pick I see him as definitely one of the better options.
So if we move someone- like Sholl- to the rookie list, then we miss out on taking anyone else in the rookie draft.3 main, 1 rookie.
Or Cook.Yeh only Sholl really makes sense. Or Jones.
Good pointMaybe ....but we're not drafting players to play year 1 .....we're trying to project 3-4 years down the track, as to who the best "finished" player will be
Personality, and drive to improve, are equally important with kids at this age .....and the hardest to forecast
Maybe not required depends if we Father/Son Stevens and is not drafted we can Rookie List automatically. Or an alternative that we pass on 3rd Pick and hope Stevens gets through or not match bid. Otherwise isn't there a List Lodgements done before Rookie & PSD Draft. We have to delist/re-rookie someone to take the mandatory 3 picks in the draft. Whether we also upgrade a rookie to only take 2 picks remains to be seen. Will likely be announced before list lodgement on Oct 31.
Plus ~40 as the squad is all 12 months older.Yeh but I'm not sure how he got 0.3 down. My calc says its down by 1.375 years per player. 55/40
irrelevant as that applies to all teams and we are talking relevative numbers. its 55 years off across 40 players. thats not 0.3 per player no matter how you cut it. this is a major major cleanout. adding walker would have made little more difference.Plus ~40 as the squad is all 12 months older.
You just asked where the 0.3 came fromirrelevant as that applies to all teams and we are talking relevative numbers. its 55 years off across 40 players. thats not 0.3 per player no matter how you cut it. this is a major major cleanout. adding walker would have made little more difference.
I think there'd be more of a risk of someone like Port taking Cook than Jones.Or Cook.
Those are the 3 most likely, and you'd struggle to find a 4th candidate.
They wont delist Jones as they will try to orchestrate a trade to Tassie whether thats next year of year after. Only chance of getting something for him.Next year’s delisting/retirements seem pretty obvious unless some of these players improve dramatically.
Tex - retire
Sholl - delist
Cook - Delist
Borlase - Delist
Jones - Delist
Welsh - Delist
Amongst our older players, I expect Hinge and Laird to get another contract.
Some of our younger players may be seeking opportunities elsewhere; Dowling, Berry, Pedlar, Edwards, Ryan, Taylor and Butts. I am however hopeful that a couple of these cement a spot in our best 23 next year.
Laird? They wont delist Jones as they will try to orchestrate a trade to Tassie whether thats next year of year after. Only chance of getting something for him.
Hinge another contract but not Laird. Z Taylor will be gone after his one year contract probably delisted.
0.3 per player is massive so not sure what are you talking about. There’s only 1 year ish between top and bottom and we were in the lower half already
Every club is about to delist several players and draft a handful of kids. If we disregard the year everyone ages up then every club is about to have a decrease in average age. And most will be drafting in more 18 year olds than us.irrelevant as that applies to all teams and we are talking relevative numbers. its 55 years off across 40 players. thats not 0.3 per player no matter how you cut it. this is a major major cleanout. adding walker would have made little more difference.
