The emotional response is to think we aren't good enough, but I think it's key to add 'Yet'. We aren't good enough yet.

For 16 players it was their first final, some have played in excess of 100 games, this was a big moment and for most of our list it was their first taste and we will be better for it.

Without question our Midfield isn't up to scratch when it comes to the pressure and speed that comes with finals.

Selection needs to be called into question, only playing 4 pure midfielders was not the right place, especially against the likes of Daicos and De Goey who are made for finals. To go into multiple centre bounces last night with Berry, Laird and Keays just showed we had the wrong group on the park, why Curtin wasn't used is beyond me.

We added in Draper last year, who is a player made for finals, his speed is second to none in the competition and getting a full preseason into him is going to do wonders, and the missing piece is a powerful player, Berry isnt it and we are too reliant on a 22 year old Soligo who was more a winger when he was drafted. An Oliver type is a missing piece that would change the dynamic of that midfield significantly because it ultimately either frees up Dawson, Rankine or him at every CBA as you can't tag them all.

Forward of center showed the lack of speed and creation we had out there without Rankine and Rachele.

Back at it next week and we're lucky we have that chance to respond, and lets hope we do.

What do you know?
Have posted it previously, decent mail from one of the 2 i know who are affiliated within the club - this one is from the "better" of the 2. Think Rankine , selection mail etc...

Oliver wants out, Dees want his wage off the books

We have been into him before, he played his best footy under Burgess' fitness regime, wants this again.
ANB been into him talking the club up

Sticking point will be % agreed on that Melbourne will pick up of his contract

He is only 28 too, still at least 4 good years in him

From his own public comments Oliver is happy to leave, Twomey has said it’s possible late in the trade period

I’m starting to believe you. I’m cautious, but optimistic given our needs

Thanks mate, must've missed the previous posts.

All for it.

He picked us to win last night and did nothing but talk up Burgo as the main reason why.

When I saw that my ears pricked up. If we were offering NWM 1.75 we must have enough cash to go shopping for some high end talent. Burgess might be the factor that gets him here, although he might also know enough to tell list management not to bother.

Personally I think it'll look pretty different in our CB midfield next year

Last night really brought home that Rankine and Rachele out at the same time takes us back to the bad old days of having a one paced midfield with no real weapons.

Those two are the yin and the yang. We'd been able to cover one for a few weeks but clearly not both. Being able to essentially play one in the middle and one forward, then switch them at will, completely changes our dynamic.

Personally think we need to go for it next year. Get Ah Chee for our first rounder Oliver or Bailey for our future first. Draper just pay the $. Add those three, plus Rankine and Rachele back in and we are a chance.

Offseason Priority 1 - Sid's preseason
Priority 2 - Clayton
Priority 3 - Sam Draper
Priority 4 - Ah Chee

I'd extend that

Priority 1 is Sid AND Charlie Edwards' preseasons - get Edwards into the midfield rotations and lets see how he hits the ground next year - he could be like a new top end recruit for us if he can step up
