Well I give a **** about the quality of coverage from Sky because I've got no alternative. While we can all disagree with the specifics, the Sky coverage is an integral part of what we all see and so shouldn't be beyond criticism.
I get the broadcast sucks, but at some point it seems like people in this thread get more enjoyment out of whinging about the broadcast or inventing hardships that don't exist than they do seeing an aussie do well in F1.

But my biggest problem with tonight's coverage was just how many times Croft fecked up his call of what was happening on track. Garbling names, mis-calling strategy and the like. It really was pretty poor from him tonight.

Rosberg provided the cool and accurate head in the box though, especially during some of the tangles that happened later in the race involving Verstappen and some of the back markers.
So just a standard call from Crofty then

Rewatched the sky pad analysis of the various restart incidents involving Verstappen from Antony Davidson.

Can I just say that he is by far the most professional and calm Sky presenter who does that sky pad work. Explains why Max was so aggrieved about being told to hand back the place to Russell.

This was the view (no further action required) subsequently taken by the stewards as well so Max was badly let down by his team on this one:

Of course there are no excuses for Max's actions subsequent to that call and he is very, very lucky he only received a 10 second penalty for deliberately ramming Russell.

Oscar always struggles with blue flags
they say Op is slowing down and Lando is closing... but then cue the camera shots of Op behind 3 lapped cars that arent moving outta the way yet.... and then cut back to Sky praising Lando for outdriving OP..

its a standard playbook every week.

Horrible attention to details.

Take out the last little bit and I thought he was clearly drive of the day. Before the SC, he was good enough to have had an extra pit stop (22 sec) and still be within 7 secs of Oscar.

Not really, he got to charge with no care at all about tyre degradation. Piastri did not go full tilt because he needed to conserve the tyres.

If Verstappen wasn’t able to close on fresh tyres it would say more about him than the two McLarens.

Max has been given 3 demerit points on his license, soft as shit from the FIA

View attachment 2331711

Says he has 11/12 but will drop to 9 as of June 30

Soft, but reading that they just aren't banning anyone.

George gets pissy, cuts corners gets penalties.
Gasly straight yeets Tsunoda, yep no penalties.
Max gets antsy and "here you go George, lol" and they give him just enough that he's not banned. Soft.

They seem OK on the McLarens.

Oh they are, just with Merc they kinda trim that car and have things where previously Lewis was like "my arse is on fire" and George had a car that got DQ'd after checking. So to have three PU's in three races is a bit hmmmm, have Merc cooked something here and and put a sensitive unit on a kettle and expected air cooling?

Again. It is a safety issue. While there are marshals and recovery vehicles on track it is not safe for them to unlap themselves. I don't see how it is so hard to grasp.
Well then don’t let them go around the track then red flag it if it’s a safety issue with cars going around the track.
With communication it could be done safely no issues, there’s Marshalls at the point of the crash and a flat bed getting there and leaving.
Hell they could have another safety car for the lapped cars to follow that goes 25% quicker.
I’m not suggesting to let them go full speed.
Vaders way would work fine.

Wow rare mega **** up by red bull. Shouldn't have gone on the hards and why did they think Max needed to give the place back to Russell?

This is the problem with Croft, he's simply a moron. I somewhat get the fanboi stuff for the Brits from the other guys, although when they know they're broadcasting to multiple other countries you'd expect slightly better but they often still at least can want a Brit to win and understand and relay what is happening.

Croft just gets giddy about a Lando potentially catching, completely ignores or misses Oscar has hit traffic and when Oscar clears and Lando hits it, he suddenly discovers the traffic. Real amateur stuff. He makes plenty of mistakes with the Brits too so can't just blame it on the one eye. I can't understand why they persist with him.

Yes,being unique/different is part of the overall challenge of participating in the F1 championship.

Surviving a race on a tight track with no margin for error is the challenge. MOncao is not an easy race despite the unlikely threat of being overtaken. It wasn't easy for Norris last week.

Even for you, in your 35yo Toyota Corolla track car. If you were to drive around Monaco in that for 90mins on your own, you areI'll just 100x more likely to make an error and crash than you would doing the same at Catalunya the next week.

Monaco is hard. The most important part of the F1 championship is that it's hard. Monaco adds to the difficulty in the overall challenge of participating in the championship.

Since you used the word "effectively", then my answer is "yes".

Spare me. What would you know? There are 100 things about F1 that ought to be changed before Monaco.

Too many people like you, who are worried about "the look", instead of maintaining the substance of the competition.
Cool... I'll just stick to my opinion that a large number of drivers, TPs and F1 journalists share. Apparently they are only worried about "the look" too and not the substance of F1.

Whilst I agree to an extent, it's not nearly as bad as basically every gameday footy thread. That's almost exclusively whinging about umpiring with occasional remarks about how crap or protected certain players are.

At least the F1 space here, there is usually genuine enjoyment of the race, appreciation of different drivers and mostly decent knowledge and discussion amongst the "Sky sports complaints".

Verstappen needs to piss off from F1 altogether at the end of the season if this is how he's going to race when not in a leading car.
It'll be boring without Max.
Like him or Loath him he's good for the sport.
Even with the Russell thing. He knew exactly what he was doing and why.

I dead ass find the sky commentary better than NBA, AFL, NRL or cricket commentary as sports I follow a lot.

It’s not perfect but the bias isn’t anywhere near as bad as some like to claim.

its like Oscar is the only one that has to contend with backmarkers.lol

How do you win 4 championships and still be a huge little beech?

There be people who wear emotions on sleeves and people who bottle it up, Max is a sleeve guy where he might say "it's fine" and his face will say "if I could eat you, you'd be digesting". People just get the whole whiny, sooky lala and etc sort of commentary when you see a pressure release from an emotive person is all. Lando gets the same treatment.

He won 4 cause he is good at his job and who cares if he's emotive about it?

This is more RB finding out that they're no longer top dog and it's not as fun any more collectively.

There’s plenty of ways it can be done.
Doing 6 laps and then letting them unlap then doing more laps seems silly.
They have to wait until the recovery vehicles are off the track, for safety reasons. That is, after all, the whole point of the SC in the first place.

Sending them through the pit lane for the re-start just makes sense - it's simple, doesn't give them an unfair advantage (i.e. a free lap), retains the order, and allows drivers to continue fighting against their direct peers as soon as they emerge from pit lane.

I believe they waited an extra lap last night, before calling the SC back into the pits, in order to give the backmarkers time to rejoin the field. This was because so many cars had been overtaken that points were still up for grabs for the backmarkers. I doubt they would have held the field for that extra lap if the lapped cars were only fighting for positions 14+.
