Weitering career died the day Tom Hawkins retired….and boy isn’t it obvious now.
He cannot go with mobile KPF.
Hogan, Cameron, Georgiades etc eat him for breakfast.
Spends most of his time pointing rather than defending.
Trade asap.

The cultural differences between Carlton and a winning football team felt like it was laid bare tonight, as it has been largely for the whole season.
Hewett and Haynes, two players hailing from functional, congruous clubs, are continually our most consistent performers, and seemingly our only players whose output doesn’t drastically change from week to week. Even when we’ve had those halcyon 1-2 month stretches of good football over the past 3 seasons, it’s always just felt like a momentum surge, and never anything sustainable.
That must be an extraordinarily difficult and systemic problem for a coach to rectify.
I’m not sure Voss has the answers, but then again, who would?

I agree with you that there are list holes that need addressing and also players that need to be moved on. My only question to you would be do you think the current coaching group is getting the absolute maximum out of the current list we have?
I think that the playing group as is, is incapable of executing any 4 quarter game plan for various reasons. Today it was about lack of leg speed. Last week it was about brain farts. Every week it is about really poor skills - especially set shots. They are just inconsistent and onconsitent about their inconsistency- coaching has to take some responsibility for that - but at teh end of the day -= players are what they are.

If peopel on here think that coaches arent giving players enough training in basic skills - well what can I say - I dont go to reaining sessions - more fun hitting the surf up here.

but seriously - change the coach I dont GAF - iyt the delusional idea that we have a great list that should be contending that makes me get a little itchy and scratchy - not fair to have the coaches wear that BS.

Defo not captain material. But was thinking the same thing. Was horrific tonight. However the fact I have had serious wants about trading most on the list in differing orders of priority this season, from Cripps down does suggest its a pretty toxic playing environment.
If they can all turn to sh*t so easily then they must be able to turn it around just the same. We just need a sound coach, tweak the nips of the list and new coach releases the shackles of the playing group.
Yeah but for how long?
Until the clique get shitty again.

Oh really?

So enlighten me why Brad Lloyd should remain?

How about keeping a coach who has clearly lost the players?

The list you complain about so much, you realise that Agresta and Austin are responsible for it, yes? So what do you disagree with there?

By all means go scorched earth on Lloyd, Austin and Agresta and the players but I genuinely feel for Voss. Everyone wants him out yet he is probably hurting more than most of the player are right now. His legacy is enshrined as a player. He risked part of it to a degree to try to become a successful coach as well. IMO he has way more on the line than a lot of these overpaid so called professional footballers we have parading at Carlton.

Carlton the consistent media and Bigfooty soap opera!

FMD - I'm certainly not a supporter of ANY of that lot- politicians and white anters the lot of them in my book. What gioves you teh idea I support them - I was referencing your previsu quote ffs! :p 😂

I watched this game second tier members.
Had a good view of this mess. Things that stood out. SEPARATION!!! Where in the forking world is it . !?!? FFS!!! Port could get nice clean separation to CREATE something . First half we could not get any sort of clean link kick and mark style of play. Always rushed, unsure, messy, crap disposal etc etc get some separation for gods sake. This is coaching folks. Where to run to set up some space . The basic triangle to give yourself and your team mates a chance to set something up and some time
For the forwards to create space . Gawd damn. Off the back of this every single entry in f50 is a mess. It’s bomb and bomb and bomb. Or drive one thru like a knife …. To a contest ! Then…. When it hits the deck…. There’s no decent crumbing or reading of the play. When we did finally get a shot inside or close ? Disgraceful kicking for goal. Just dead set d grade kicking styles spraying
It everywhere couldn’t it a barn door . Tackling kinda yeah but in packs . Too many blokes going in…. Not sticking it …leaving port blokes free… again!! Port were just having it way too easy . Way too easy time after time . Capping it off with some shockingly indisciplined shots at goal when team mates are motoring up for an easier shot and closer … hello Charlie . Jayzuz . I could go on … handballs too close , to ya team mates feet , over head . And running under the ball when leading for a mark. Timing was waaaaay out so many times . TDK? Hmm yeah . He’s kinda handy kinda but also kinda all
Legs and arms at times. Unpredictable and borderline chaotic messy stuff . Needs 2 slow Down A fraction and use his body better he’s no shrinking violet . Weeto? He’s not right at all. We need pace and and about three fully fit firing Nic Newmans in the back line . Ill
Leave it there . Shite !

I said earlier today, I don't want Voss out... yet

I'd prefer if we got some proper assistants around him and a senior tactical advisor.

Then let him see out next year, let's see what he's got. Then make the decision.

But there's just no way I can see Voss surviving with these kinds of losses building up.

People voting for silvagni? Embarrassing, switched off georgiades. Gave away multiple frees to esava. Checked out. Weak and slow last week too. Hes a three year deal max 500 otherwise let him go.

I thought there was a lot of hysteria last week from supporters. Needs to be this week. Last week was a terrible game plan, horrible skills, missed easy shots. This week no one had a dip from the first bounce after copping massive media focus all week. Embarrassing.

Well it will start with pissing off that fraud HOF we have.

Then, once Voss is sacked, the next coach + assistants.

Then list management team needs to be addressed so the list can be rebuilt properly.

Get the right people in these positions and then things will turn. Won't happen overnight, prepare for years of pain, but it must be done.

Can't hang onto these overpaid pretenders and hope that they come good. They're not up to it.

Then you said you only agree with the overpaid pretenders bit...

So turns out, that wasn't the only thing you agreed with :D

I get the feeling a lot of us on here are behind Voss.
It’s the imposters on field who are pissing us off the most.
It is a very very split forum on Voss - the main difference is perception about the quality of the playing list- some see it as top4 and should be contending - others have a very different view.

Good Call, those two were the only two who showed any leadership tonight. Haynes was particularly impressive to me, he never stopped putting in.

I think we need a new onfield leadership group, I'd love to see those two as part of it serving as vice captains to support Silvagni as Captain.

We haven’t had a top 4 list since back in the Ratts days.

The only bit that Voss has let himself down on is standards which is important. Game plan is fine so long as players can execute more often than not which they don’t and is on them. Leg speed is a furphy. The greatest players in almost every era weren’t blessed with speed of foot, rather speed of mind and ball use by foot and hand.

He let himself down rushing Cerra and Cottrell back last season when we were playing well. He doubled down on that with the team he picked for the Brisbane final last year. He should have held McKay, Walsh and Curnow back at the start of this year and he most definitely should have dropped Doc and Gov earlier this year.

That said the biggest failure in standards resides with the board. They are a joke. More worried about membership $$$ and woke social feel good programs. The club has been sabotaged by bad actors more worried about improving or enhancing their individual status. The club is rotten at its core.

It’s hard to judge Voss when the playing group delivers an effort that resembles the ammos. Slipped tackles, second to the contest. Out worked everywhere. Damning footage. Rightly or wrongly hes lost the playing group so he needs to go. Pathetic from the players once again

Somebody needs to make it clear to the players that if they show no effort in future games no matter what their reasons are they'll be out at the end of the year regardless of who is coaching them next year.

My view is that clean up the low hanging fruit and the list and fix the assistant coaches - before throwing Voss on to the trash heap - unless you've got a much better option up your sleeve- he is way down the pecking order as far as what ails Carlton goes.

The issue is going to be whether you can attract high quality assistant coaches to Carlton if Voss is the coach.

... The captain, as much as I love hm, sadly is one of the main offenders, as he was with Teague and Bolton before that. ...

Yep, no arguments here. I'd also note that both Voss and Teague in early days talked about co-designing the playing style and game plan with the players.

My takeaway from that now and always has been that designing a plan around Cripps helped him be an individual superstar but it was always to the ultimate detriment of the team.
