I’m going to skip the cash Gen from Simpson - I just can’t stomach fielding 4 rookies when last week I’ve only fielded Bice & ZReid

Out: JHF Callaghan
In: Heeney Bolton

And if you take out his 150, he's averaging 82.9, which makes him the 29th-ranked forward. Can't be ignoring non-injury scores.

Don't take out any scores and he'll average 90+.
For $100k less than anyone else who will.

Sure, but then you're locking yourself into a 90 averaging F6 when a lot will end up with finished forward lines of Smith, Petracca, Rankine, Warner, Macrae and JHF or similar.

He's decent value, sure. But there's a reason you're getting him so cheap. Personally think that Heeney, Rowell, Serong, Cerra etc are better value at their current prices.

But anyway, I'm not changing minds here. If you like Bolton, pick him.

I'm 'lucky'. I banked the 150 last week. (Which, don't get me wrong, was pretty f$ck1ng lucky!)

How confident are you that any of those you mentioned (bar Sniff) go 95+ from here?

(We do need 6 forwards eventually, obviously).

Anyway, past performance, future predictions and all that.

(Seemingly half this board has [at some point this season] broken their team/plans to get in Daicos...
...who's gone <100 in exactly 60% of his games...)

If Bolton scored 120 last week the hype wouldn't be there. I'm sure this time last week he was on No one's radar but some people are looking for a cash grab and others hope of snagging a keeper for $430k. He will be a solid 90+ forward but there will be a few stinkers thrown in just like most forwards.

I'm basically 100% confident that Petracca, Warner, Rankine, Macrae and JHF go 95+. No reason why any of them wouldn't.

Fair play banking the 150 last week though

Callaghan < Dawson vs Eagles or Zerrett vs Tigers?? Zerrett does tend to like the run home after the byes and Dawson was on my never again list but can not decide. Seems like Dawson has pulled his finger out

Dawson has a very nice run home post bye if that makes a difference.

You already like Zerrett for his history and dislike Dawson for his. You'd be more upset if you choose Dawson and it goes badly. Just going by what you've written

Agreed, hence why I am steering clear. Might be a bad move but burnt way too many times this season.
Need cash gen tho. Not many other rookies on the horizon and he’s scored okay.

I'm holding, given what you'd be replacing him with.

Bear with me for the below – say that Macrae misses two games + the bye, and keep in mind that he'd need to be replaced with a forward either now or later on. Now say that forward is somebody most don't already have, like Nic Martin, Luke Jackson or Shai Bolton. Factor a few assumptions in below.

Macrae
  • If he misses two games and scores at his season average for the rest of the year: 1,184 total points
  • 2 x 50s from rookies as cover: 100 points (could be more given best-18 next week)
  • Total contribution to your team for the rest of the year: 1,284 points
Martin
  • If he scores at his season average for the rest of the year: 1,296 points
  • End result: One less trade for 12 total points over the course of the season.
Jackson
  • If he scores at his season average for the rest of the year (huge if, considering his scoring is entirely dependent on Darcy being out of the team): 1,460 points
  • End result: One less trade for 176 total points over the course of the season (but that's only if Darcy doesn't play, which he will)
Bolton
  • If he scores at his season average for the rest of the year: 1,174 points
  • End result: One less trade for -110 total points over the course of the season (plus $87k generated).
______________

Now there are obviously a ton of variables in the above, but the TL;DR is that IF you think Macrae misses just the two games and will maintain his scoring when he returns, then it is very likely not worth the trade, especially given how bad cash gen is (meaning extra trades required for upgrades).

So, uh, about that.

Think I'm trading Macrae lol.

You were right, went with Zerrett and this was the correct decision. This week at least... No watch Dawson pump out a 180 against the Witches hats.

What changed your mind?
Impulse. Haven't made up my mind for sure yet, but seeing the percentages of the top teams trading him out has made me a bit edgy about it (plus Serong is great value at 529k for a replacement).

That, and Baz potentially missing next week could mean trouble with the bye if I hold Macrae.
