Just seeing the conditions at Origin tonight has me tempted to VC Serong. Should be plenty of tackles on offer and like it better when Jackson is full-time ruck. Not to also mention the matchup this week and showed signs of life in terms of hitting a ceiling score last week.

You know at work, when they ask if anyone has experience at something and you put your hand up and then go on to do such a good job, that your stuck with it and no one else gets a turn?

Well, Scoops, I’m afraid that is your world now.

Hey, don’t blame me, you brought it on yourself!

One thing to note is that Setterfield has actually done some decent tagging jobs on extracting types recently. Also coming off a five-day break – still, Freo should win big so might be a solid option.

Added a poll – interested to see what the general consensus is, as I know a few (myself included) are considering this question.

Is on the fence the same as depends on how many trades I have left and who gets injured?

Based on one game, yes, but need some more games to have a better answer
I tend to agree, but I know there's a few that need to make that call this week.

Big high-risk, high-reward play. Best case scenario, you're getting the same (or better) output as a Roberts/McKercher/Mills etc type as a 23rd for 250-350k less, worst case scenario he bombs out (either through injury or form), and you're leaving yourself exposed from a cover perspective later in the year.

First year of the flex, so will be interested to look back and see which option was better.

I answer to the name of Scoops from Floggs Creek

I am not an entity, legal person, citizen or resident, nor any form of creature of statute.

My yes be yes, my no be no.

I have not been provided with any material facts or evidence that shows there exists any lawful gold or silver coin of substance in common circulation upon which to close, pay and extinguish the debt owed to me by Dylan Moore for his abject shitness. I believe sincerely that none exists. I believe no gold or silver coin in circulation can repay his debt.

Any attempts to remove me from the Big footy SC Board on the part of Cherftain or his vassals are farcical and without basis.

I have no further comment at this time. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Re McCarthy. It is impossible to know after one game.

But I am going to give it a spin which means prioritising him as 23rd man over Mills (which in turn allows me to get Bont next week).

If it doesn't come off, between him Johnson/Clarke, you should have enough $$ to get a decent 23 in then.

Yep, hence why it becomes an interesting question if you have to decide this week.

If he comes back after the bye and punches out another ton or two in his next two games, then it becomes a very easy answer.

I was going to use 3 trades this week to get in Sheldrick as my 23rd.

With McCarthy's score I've decided to leave my M8 open to the rookies and use the E where necessary and instead upgrade Newcombe to Hewett and Roberts to Whitfield.

So it's not specifically that McCarthy is a viable 23rd, more that my 23rd player can be a the best of my 23/24/25 scores whilst having 110 scoring players rather than 95 scoring players * 2 onfield.

I’ve got McCarthy as my 23rd at the moment, I’m not sure whether he will be viable or not as the 23rd player but I’m happy to take the risk as I’m low on trades and money. I like the fact that he can basically cover every line via dpp except the rucks.

Still hoping I can grab a 23rd in a few weeks but for now I’m happy with McCarthy in that spot

I have McCarthy as my flex now.

Happy to give it a go and see what transpires.

Have Hewett as my floating M9/F7.

So if it fails I can upgrade Hewett to a premo for minimal cost.

Allows me to bring Jackson in and hopefully he gets an easy kill tonight as VC.
