What we are up against- a dual premiership coach whose win % and ability to get into the finals is amongst the best in AFL history. Whilst under Kingsley we have never lost to Geelong and have beaten them in very tight games, with Jeremy Cameron also being in great form, this is going to be a tough game to win.

Media commentators, ex-players and fans have long acclaimed Scott as a tactical mastermind.

His name often comes up when the most strategic coaches of the modern era are discussed.

The crowd for the Geelong match will be interesting. We have only ever played Geelong 4 times at Giants Stadium, with the last game occurring during the COVID impacted 2020 season.

Our average crowd against Geelong at GS is 10,171 (not counting the COVID game), with the highest crowd being 15,007 in 2017. In 2025, we have drawn an average crowd of 11,369 (ranging from 19,248 for our Collingwood game to 8,092 for the Fremantle game). I think the crowd for this Geelong match will comfortably be over 10k, and we may even have a good chance to beat the 15,007 crowd figure given Geelong’s position in the ladder, and the significance of this game to the composition of the finals?
The Ticketmaster site is typically doing strange releases. The Eastern wing had no tickets for the last few days and today they have released several rows.

Anything under about 14,000 for this game would be disappointing. I'm taking two friends to their first ever AFL game tomorrow and with any luck they'll become rusted on Giants supporters like me.
Historically you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

We've got 19 games above that mark ever:
  1. Eight were against Sydney.
  2. Four were finals.
  3. Three were against Collingwood, which have the biggest fan base and travel well.
  4. And only five have been after COVID (two Collingwood, two Sydney, and one final).
Then there's West Coast in 2017, Essendon in 2019, Geelong in 2017 and Richmond in 2018 - so you're effectively calling for our best post-COVID non-derby/Collingwood/final crowd in a random Saturday afternoon game against a mid-size Victorian team.

Whits will have a thousand mates coming for his big day

Of course we should be getting 14,000 for a game like this. If we can get 10,000 against GC and 19,000 against Collingwood then I'm not sure why this one couldn't split the difference. A lot of three-game members save their tickets for these games against better teams too. And kids go free...

Congrats to Whitfield on 250. With all the highlight packages we’ve seen (and will no doubt be on the big screen before the game) the one highlight not included, outrageously, is from Round 7, 2013 against Adelaide at the Showgrounds.

I wasn’t there, unfortunately - lunchtime on Mother’s Day, stupid time slot for a footy game - but in this game Lachie Whitfield recorded his one and only ever stat for ruck hit-outs. I don’t know if it was to advantage or not.

Yes I know it was in the days of third man up, but surely if a player only has one stat in one category over 250, sometimes all-Australian worthy, games, it should at least be noted.
