Power running was too much for Dempsey and was impressive with his team defence.
His 2 way running is good for structure. We seem to win when he e plays.

Terrific win.
Very even performance.
Stringer finding form and Cadman arriving makes our forward line amazing.
Taking Bedford back to the forward line makes our midfield better imo.

Really good win for us, huge in the context of this finals race.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned enough is how good Aleer was in this game. Incredibly solid in defence, always there with a spoil or an intercept. Plus really effective with his disposals as well. I think that was his best performance to date.

If I didn't already want you to win the flag this season, last night's send off for Lachie solidified that for me. Got me good. Can anyone share the story behind it, Lachie just a fan? Ynwa
Absolutely. That had to be one of the best milestone celebrations for a player ever. The massive banner for him unfurled
from the top stand after the game and the reference to his fandom of Liverpool FC and playing "You'll Never Walk Alone"
made the milestone celebration very personal. Very classy by the Giants to celebrate him that way. If you haven't seen
it, check out the replay on Kayo while it's still up.

The AFL’s insights from the week’s matches.

7) The Giants' spread of attacking weapons makes them a premiership threat

Jesse Hogan did the damage as Greater Western Sydney rolled Geelong earlier this season, but his understudy Aaron Cadman was arguably even more pivotal to the result of the re-match at Engie Stadium on Saturday. The 21-year-old turned the game with four goals in the third term and finished with a career-high six as the Giants defeated the Cats to keep pace with the top four. Cadman has begun to live up to his immense potential with 16 goals as the Giants have gone on a four-match winning streak, while reigning Coleman medallist Hogan remains the focal point and skipper Toby Greene is still as dangerous as anyone in the forward half. The Giants are the only club with three players in the top 20 goalkickers in the AFL and their spread of attacking weapons threatens to become even greater after recruit Jake Stringer enjoyed his most impactful game yet for his third team with four goals. - Martin Pegan

In the lead up to this I was calling for angwin to be dropped for cogs

I was very wrong

Rowston was fantastic and deserves his spot. Angwin was brilliant and should keep his.

Cogs looks a long way off given his VFL form but I do hope he gets back

Atmosphere was brilliant last night
Angwin finally showed what I thought we would be seeing from him. Could be a fantastic piece for us on the wing if he can keep that form up. Out paced Bailey a fair few times.
Rowston did a LOT of work and had a bunch of 'almost' moments too.
I think I'd prefer to get Cogs up and running for the back end of the year. I reckon his touch and class is just hard to beat.

Gs n form is better, but Rowston has been a real help inside …. He’s very similar to sheldrick from the swines who has also come on this year

Yeah I think ultimately he's the replacement in the long term. Love his attack. Similar to when people wanted Madden to play instead of Briggs....I just think we are better off giving Cogs a run in. I'd rather have Cogs in a final

Crowd was 13,349. Only the Collingwood opening round crowd of 19,248 was higher, and with the Sydney derby coming up, will be our 3rd highest crowd this year across both our home grounds.

Not far off the 14,000 I predicted in the preview thread. Should go close to 20K for the Swans game.

Yes, will depend on the weather (and track work!) if the Sydney game beats the Collingwood attendance. Excluding the 2020 and 2021 Covid impacted years, our highest home crowd for a H&A game has always been against Sydney - with just one exception. The exception was last year when our Collingwood Opening Round match was our highest attended home match during the H&A season.

Great to be there in person on the night and like others have said loved the tribute for Lachie W.

I watched Connor Idun closely the entire night and the bloke is a bona fide star footballer. Amazingly valuable to have someone with his traits to be able to play on talls and smalls.

I haven't seen a huge amount of him but personally I'm not sold on Fonti back there. Not sure you want the ball in his hands down the stretch in a big game. Losing Cumming, Perryman and now Stone to injury seems to have left you a little exposed in that spot?

Very few weak links in this side however.
