There was probably 3-4 that were very easy that Brisbane players kicked. We had momentum for long periods but would get destroyed off a point going the other way for a lions goal. Maybe we could have been a bit closer with those goals going through.
Confidence is a massive thing in any sport..
Without it you will struggle to get most things done but WITH it you feel like you can do anything
Goal kicking is exactly the same..

I am amazed at how far people can stretch to criticise Motlop.

Outside of his set shot last night he was quite good but yet still cops abuse.
He's been good for a month or more. People are idiots. His effort, tackling and physicality has really grown in strides. I said it a month ago the because of this the rest will follow and it has been. Was one of our few good links between midfield/defence and our forward 50. He's coming along nicely.

"Carlton were trying but privately in the rooms after the game even senior players were baffled by why it was their field kicking that was again so poor. They train well and play badly. A truism of sport is you play how your train and Carlton feel a little cheated by that. Voss was asked whether they had spent sufficient time on skill training in the summer, his response was candidly honest when he said he thought they had, but the evidence on the field would point otherwise.
“The outcome would suggest maybe not enough (skill work),” he said."

They're baffled!? Have they not realised their skills fall apart under pressure? Every other player in the league has noticed.

Is it possible that everyone at the club have the yips?
Nope. They kick goals in the reserves, step up to senior level, and goals they’d kicked in the VFL, they’re missing. It’s a massive joke. Almost like they’re told to deliberately miss.

He did and he did last week.

Watching live I thought Cripps, Curnow, Weitering all tried hard. Issue is now they are playing as individuals and trying to do it all themselves. We have no system
Our top senior players have put the que in the rack. The finals carrot has gone. I'm not worried, I have seen this from good players in sides having down years only for them to turn back up again once the team became a premiership threat.

Really, it's hard to get up and about as an older player when your team's put of it.

It's up to everyone as a whole to create that motivation next season and get us back into finals contention.

Our youth and fringe players have something to play for, they will have a go so I think we need to make the most of it and give them opportunities in terms of playing AFL footy and getting to play in prime positions.

Just wanted to highlight HOF's game.

I thought he took a giant leap last night and you could see that he feels he belongs at this level.

He reminds me of Michael Sexton but taller.

His ability to get to the front of a contest and one grab was on show last night. His disposal and vision are top quality as well.

With another 6-8 kgs on that huge frame, he could be our CHB for the next 12 years.
I want to see him in the gym over the off-season, with Deano as his gym partner. Then next year, mostly in the VFL in defence with Dean and DGB.

He's just an easy target. Far from the problem. Clearly our second best small forward behind a fit Zac Williams. And he's only 21 years old so obviously has a heap of scope to improve.

Not sure how much I love the midfield stuff but he was better last night in that area. Still don't like him getting that deep in defence in games - costly error with his deliberate rushed behind. Needs to work on his set shot kicking as well.

But the calls for him to be dropped or delisted don't make much sense to me. His effort is always there. Tackle pressure has been great this season. And his footskills in terms of threat rating + retention rating are one of the best at Carlton. Would be re-signing him personally.
His move into the centre bounces has also been a good move, has pace and a step, something that most of our mids lack. I’d also love to see more of Moir in the middle as well.

I'm not sure he will play in the 2's again!
Agree. Should just stay in the 1s, can play mostly as a third tall intercepting when Weiters/JSOS both fit while his body develops

No need for McGovern

I'm not sure he will play in the 2's again!
He will, when Silvagni comes back. He needs it for his continued development.

Have to agree with those who believe Brisbane were in second gear most of the night. I think the commentators knew this as well but were pumping up how great Brisbane were apparently playing to try and politely gloss over how awful we are.

I'm exactly the same
It’s the expectation that Carlton is going to bone yet another coach. And the players get away with it.

Their pressure and tackling wasn't 2nd gear.

Their ball movement was different to normal though. Their missed shots were pretty standard for them.

Moir has kicked something like 15.4 in the reserves on wind affected grounds. Under the dome 0.3 baffling.

CC is in reasonable form just hasn't kicked a goal in his last 10 shots. That's why I am confident things can turn in the future.

It is just so deflating

Finals hopefully
Getting that sort of experience into our young players will definitely assist their development and build a winning attitude they’ll bring into the AFL team.

Well based off that interview, Lemmey will not be coming in next week or in the near future.

The amount of times he mentions us being short of talls and that's why TDK is being played forward, speaks alot of the chances

Reality is TDK should be dropped on form. But we don't make decisions on form just names.

Totally agree, their tackling was brilliant and what we should aspire to. I have always felt we were too soft with our tackles, the opposition must feel them, the same with our spoiling technique.

Effort was better but the kids need guidance and unfortunately with our confidence being non existent at the moment this is affecting everything we do, especially basic ball skills. They need to celebrate the good stuff on the field, like Pitto's goal and they need to pick up the young guys when they stuff up. Great to see Carrol smile and keep taking the game on even after the 2nd time he got caught.

Tackling technique, not good enough. Also, nearly every other team, when caught by one arm, will immediately bring the other arm to the ball and feign that both arms are pinned to avoid being penalised. Another absolutely pathetic ruling by the AFL that if one arm is free you are penalised even if you have no prior opportunity.
