Need to fix our goal kicking yips because we sure as shit can’t defend the length of the ground during opposition kick-ins.
We did a pretty good job most of the game forcing them wide.

Brisbane are the best short kicking team & deadly though the centre.

We turned it over in the centre a billion times - unsurprising they fed.

Surprising they didn’t feast.

Yep. Same with Durdin- he's a midfielder in a small forwards body. And that's what I take issue with.. our recruitment of small forwards has been terrible. We've turned it into a numbers game rather than just drafting a natural one. Draft or tarde for a genuine and natural small forward or two. Those two are our best that we have to keep but they aren't natural small forwards.

Fogarty I've seen enough. Can't be keeping a guy who's just a defensive 'small forward' who can't kick goals from 15 metres out. Evans won't survive the cull. White probably likewise. Fantasia too injury prone. We have to keep Mots and Durdin but boy oh boy are we still crying out for a natural, classy, zippy, well skilled small forward who gets front and centre at the ball drop and hits the pack at speed.
We don’t have to keep any of them, we can’t replace them with any worse and may finally get lucky.

Last time, as I’m sick of saying this but how many times can we go forward and kick to a contest of 1 v 2 or 3, while they have open spaces? Why are we still playing McGovern and Cerra back? Why don’t we give Moir a run further up field? Just nonsense structure and coaching. Motlop and Williams have wheels and goes through the middle and earns ball, while we continue to play Hewett and Cripps together in there. I’m sick of it.

Our midfield needs a complete overhaul how that's done with too many big contract's on the books is the question .
Blown apart on the outside every week .
Cant go forward with this plodding midfield.
Don't capitalise when we do control the play .
Leadership group the same leaders are also responsible for standards not just the coach .
Some tough decisions need to be made does the club have the balls I doubt it...

We don’t have to keep any of them, we can’t replace them with any worse and may finally get lucky.

There's only so many list changes you can make in one off season.. we have plenty of pressing issues and many out of contract who won't survive the cull with less skill than Motlop. We won't let go Motlop or Durdin go, at least not this year.

I think Brisbane have had the best list for 4 years now and gets better every year.

They really should be flag favourites.

Challenging run home for them but what an outfit when they get focused.

They play Dogs, Suns, Pies and Hawks and Dockers in Perth.

I reckon I’ll watch all of them just to see what they’re capable of.
Yep, they are actually so good that they've been accused of "playing with their food" because they get bored at the lack of challenge and switch off for periods of time. I've honestly seen games where they barely switch on for 3 quarters and set themselves a "one quarter challenge" to win the game and get there.

Focused for 4 quarters, I don't think anyone can go with them. They are full of stars who are also team-first and have a good system.

Another good game by Cowan.

HOF looks the goods…hit tge gym over preseason. 👌👌
Yeah I think O’Farrell is going to be very good, seems to learn from his mistakes and backed himself to take a few marks.

I’d keep him in even when JSOS gets back, and throw McG up forward. Carroll started a bit shaky but got better as the game went - I know he’s a good kick but he showed he can handball out of trouble which is a good sign. Moir had a few almost moments but should be persisted with.

Durdin and Fogarty need to be replaced but with Williams and Fantasia injured will probably get a reprieve.

HoF the best part of watching that. Needs to play every game for the rest of the year - will lose some 1v1s (like against Hipwood Q1 but that free was stiff) but will learn a lot and clearly has AFL ability. Just needs to spend all summer in the gym and in a calorie surplus

Liked Cowan too
Effort on the whole was there compared to the last 3 weeks - just clear difference in terms of the quality between the teams.
I include Curnow in the effort stakes - I think he's putting in and I think he looks much better up the ground. We just need two of him because he is just about the only bloke I trust taking that kick into the corridor from the wing, but if he's up there, theres no one to kick to

Same issues with us most weeks - poor skills and continually collapsing into the contest. So often at the centre bounce all 3 mids just go ball hunting and if we don't win the ball there is ACRES of space on the defensive side of the stoppage. Players need to be better but also this is coaching...
Cerra has been well and truly Carltoned. Ball use was once a strength and is currently deplorable - just continually overhits kicks

TDK should be dropped and can piss off. No issue with a player chasing the bag - they don't have long to make their money - but when you check out and put in rubbish effort after rubbish effort like this you can **** off. Will be booed roundly in 2026

The goals we missed tonight were awful.
I just don’t get how Fog managed to miss his shot but there were plenty of other chances gone begging.
This aspect of the game has an incredible impact on attitude, confidence and performance and we continually let ourselves down.

Terrible skills and structure, we are not this bad but yet we are still not able to perform.

It is completely broken.

We have a Charlie Curnow & TDK sized problem at the moment, one has completely forgotten how to kick a goal, the other simply doesn't want to try anymore.

Honestly the way we are playing i can’t see us winning another game this year, better effort than past weeks but between the way we play (horrendous) and the atrocious skills & basic football acts its as bad and embarrassing as it gets…

The turnaround in form from 12 plus months ago is incredibly frustrating and disappointing, there’s no looking at game style changes being trialed, just looking forward to watching the youngsters getting game time into them…
