It’s interesting that Rowston has now dropped below McMullin in the pecking order. I thought Harry had been going pretty well and adding extra grunt to the midfield mix really lifted Tom Green’s form.

I wouldn't discount managing load and form. McMullin had a few full games in the 2's and got some continuity. Harry's playing time has been a bit of a mixed bag lately.

Interesting to see if the crowd figure for this match will exceed this year’s Collingwood Opening Round attendance of 19,248. Last year’s attendance at the Collingwood Opening Round ensured that 2024 was the only year (discounting the COVID impacted 2020 and 2021?years), where our march against Sydney was not the highest attended home match in the H&A season.

our CEO David Matthews addressing the insular VFL worldview that the people will be tuning it to the Essendon-Bulldogs game than our derby tomorrow

The fact there's a game on in Melbourne, to be honest, people in Sydney couldn’t care less what's going on in Melbourne at the best of times, so I think the focus for this town is going to be on this derby for sure,” Matthews said in a press conference.

I have a feeling it won’t, mainly because a Friday night game won’t be as easy to get to for a lot of families. That said, still expecting a big crowd and great atmosphere.
