Nice comment.
As a Hamptoner, back when there were more petrol stations than BMWs in Hampton st., going to a Sandy game on a Sunday Arvo was a fun and we had some thrilling encounters.

I hear today about the Northern Bullants folding, and I wonder about Sandy. I actually liked their defiant president saying he didn’t wanna be St Kilda’s lackey team and dress up in red-white-black.

Here is hoping they survive. I think us Saints fans owe Sandy something and if we set up a little fund to here I think we’d all drop in a couple of bucks to help them.
totally, great leadership from their prez, also forces us to get our act together, win win!

My Dad and I used to go to Saints on Saturday and Sandy on Sunday for years in the '70s and '80s, loved both clubs and got to see '85 Sandy flag at least. Was stoked when we teamed up but it hasn't really worked out so glad we're parting ways, hope Zebras rebound and flourish again

whatever there were defiant leaders in the Confederate states too. I think Sandy will be gone soon, and he'll be somebody to blame.

Dow finishing as high as he did with 7 games (at least 2 were on reduced minutes and one he didnt finish with injury) is impressive.

His talent at VFL level has never been in doubt, it's just whether he has what it takes at 26 to take the next step in the AFL. Going to be tough for him from here taking into account recruits and youth progression but hopefully he at least gets a clean run at it the next 12 months.

guess we get to see who was the problem

Ive known a few blokes from my club who have played for Sandy. There's never a lack of applicants for VFL listings, its the quality of them that's been the issue.

With a greater salary cap I hope Sandy can actually attract some talent.

eh!
Who is the stand out!?
Here’s the ranking of those players by votes per match (votes ÷ matches), highest first:

Summary:
JONES is head and shoulders higher!
I think some of these players played low minutes though.
  • Jones, Boxshall and Dow were the standouts on a per-game basis.
  • McLennan had the highest total votes overall, but his per-match average ranked only 8th.

They will have a cap of $220 000 instead of $110 000. They will then need to replace at least 10 of their best players.

You mean their Saints cohort right?
I mean, don’t you wonder how it has hurt them as opposed to help them, having this unpredictable easy come easy go rotating door for their best players?
How do they improve and get momentum like that?

Wishing the Zebs success.

My focus is that Boxshall as a first year player was outscoring most of these more seasoned players and possibly would have won the B&F if he had only played one more match.

Boxshall is an extremely exciting prospect. One of the most exciting players on our list in my opinion. Has bull midfielder written all over him.

Agree with all of that. I also wonder whether he could play on a wing while Steele/Macrae are being transitioned out of that midfield. There will be a bit of a logjam for mid rotations but we need to find a way to keep him in the 22. Don't know if he has the engine, but he was top 5 for the time trial in his draft year and his aerial ability would be a threat at either end.

His contested marking has been underrated and his kicking looks weird but the output is more than adequate. He seems a very versatile player but I do hope long-term he’s an inside mid.

It’s probably why we just kept playing him in the ones despite having more than enough inside mids in the team already. Just too good for VFL.
