My impression from far away of Sandy is that they are trying to access old Sandy Dragon players on a new list. Maybe get a club atmosphere going. Is that right? I read that Sandy got a former SD list manager (or something like that) in a senior role to get this going.
And if so would that attract old Sandy players that got on AFL lists back to Bayside? Seems a pity to have a great success story in the Sandy Dragons on our doorstep and not take any advantage of it.
Anyone with a deeper knowledge of this?

Yep they both did. As did Sam Gilbert. TDL was vice captain for a few seasons

The new GM has come across from the SD. Is that who you were thinking of?
Yes. I saw a quote about him reuniting some of the SD’s. And maybe a longer plan around that idea. But seen nothing more. Sounded a good thing but is a long term thing. Sandy going nowhere so any plan a move forward frankly.

But you’re right; regardless, we need to be better.

Nothing matters until we properly fund it. Casey and Box Hill pay for supporting talent. We are bare bones. Match payments are around $500 a player for non aligned. The real cream are probably on $1k a match or something. Spend $500k per year on players and you'd have a very strong side. It's barely a scratch on our distribution and you'd recoup some of that in gate takings if they were worth watching.
