I tells ya, we're still a chance.Woodville-West Torrens gun Jevan Phillipou has naturally leant towards St Kilda over the past three years after older brother Mattaes was drafted to Moorabbin.
“I guess the Saints, wanting them to do well because he (Mattaes) is playing for them,” Phillipou told foxfooty.com.au. “But when he’s not playing I couldn’t really care less to be honest. I just want him to do well.
“Apart from that though, I’d pick Port over the Crows for sure. I just don’t like the Crows, honestly, I don’t like them at all. Dad played a little bit of SANFL for Port as well so that might be part of it.”
How do you not just love this kid?! Hahaha
It's a tough one to judge. It may well be the case that the final surgery was inevitable and he's better off having gont through the process when he did or could have lost yet another season. Many posters last year were saying just put him in rehab and call off the season early for him. We weren't challenging at all, it was a mistake in many ways to keep him trying to get on the park late in the year.
Good luck to the young man for 2026.
Despite the general claims from those posters, they arent psychic and had absolutely zero insight except guesses. Many posters last year were saying just put him in rehab and call off the season early for him. Wish we still had a presence in the first round to pick the kid up. Obviously won't happen, but it's fun to think about hahaWoodville-West Torrens gun Jevan Phillipou has naturally leant towards St Kilda over the past three years after older brother Mattaes was drafted to Moorabbin.

Knee injuries suck ass because minor shit can cause enough discomfort to seriously impact you but are also very recoverable most of the time. The club isn't just going to kill an entire year for a player because of what is seen as a relativity minor injury.
Also you don't jump straight to brain surgery because of migraines just like you don't cut a knee apart unless you absolutely have to.
It absolutely sucks ass that he missed the entire year but this "hindsight" stuff is really devoid of the realities of injury management.
You do realise that when we said rd8, it was because all the medical consultants believed it was going to be rd8. Then the same thing again at rd12 and so on.Not hindsight, reality.
We were so far off early, it wasn't funny. Club says round 8, then 12, then 16, then no starter. Mentally its more destroying than the actual injury when you can't hit your goals and you are constantly sitting on the sidelines.
Mentally I would rather him just wish he took the year away from the club and rejuvenated himself. Gap year, whatever you want to call it.
Many do it, go to Europe or US for a year or so and come back a different person.
No, there's nothing "real" about packing a player in cotton wool in April because he's got knee pain. No club is going to do that. Not hindsight, reality.

I must say i have never heard of an AFL or NRL player taking a gap year in Europe , I have heard of people taking a study break gap year but not sure sportsman take gap yearsNot hindsight, reality.

I read that and understood that he was saying he doesn't care about St Kilda specifically, he just cares that his brother does well.thats hilarious
"couldn't really care less to be honest... but **** i hate the crows."

Combine testing can be misleading. From what I've seen from Jevan he has the scope to be the Max Holmes, Darcy WilsonPhillipou had a disappointing Combine his testing looked quite a bit off the athletic freak has been sold as. He has been discussed as a top 20 selection, which highlights the lack of depth in this years draft.

What indication to you have that he is a freak running endurance beast that those two are?Combine testing can be misleading. From what I've seen from Jevan he has the scope to be the Max Holmes, Darcy Wilson

I've got a vague recollection the Lenny did something like it after some major knee sugery. Probably wasn't the full year though.I must say i have never heard of an AFL or NRL player taking a gap year in Europe , I have heard of people taking a study break gap year but not sure sportsman take gap years

I also have vague recollection of Paddy McCartin spending an entire year in US, sorting his concussion out. Then came back expecting to play with us but ended up at the Swans.
Well this was from 2024 when he would have been 17Thats a big call when you see his 2km testing results - he wont be at the Saints so does it really matter ....
