Don't think most people are shit human beings, but everyone has silly extreme thoughts at times and the internet just makes it easy to voice them.
The pile on is what really p1sses me off , some clown whether here or Facebook makes a post and the sheep follow and pile on , its not a good look.

Got to have a very good season so they all sign up again with a decent membership.

All Australian side using stats rather than preconception. Of course the latter is what is used.

AFL PLAYER RATINGS ALL-AUSTRALIAN SIDE

So, as for the side. If you're going with conventional team-building wisdom, you would pick three key forwards and three key defenders. There are then three general defenders down back, two mid-forwards and a general forward up front. There's one ruck, two wingers and three pure midfielders in the starting side. The bench is then made up of the best of the rest, which – in this case – happens to be all four midfielders. With an enforced 16-game minimum for selection, here is what the team would look like.

B: Callum Wilkie, Sam Taylor, Nick Blakey
HB: Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Harris Andrews, Jack Sinclair
C: Jack Crisp, Marcus Bontempelli, Steele Sidebottom
HF: Kysaiah Pickett, Riley Thilthorpe, Izak Rankine
F: Jeremy Cameron, Sam Darcy, Gryan Miers
Foll: Tristan Xerri, Ed Richards, Noah Anderson
I/C: Matt Rowell, Isaac Heeney, Tom Green, Caleb Serong

Was Higgins not even close in the end? And he had his best season?

Higgins was the 2nd most productive small forward for the season, wasn't he? He was probably on top for half of the year but Elliot could have pipped him after a quiet patch.

I suppose so. On however they measure the best forward. Assume it’s assists as well as other things. Just interesting to hold an objective measure verses the usual subjective crap from the selectors. Like a managed fund vs a ETF market tracker!

It's a good question, here's Higgo vs the other top 10 goalkicking small forwards (some of whom played lots of midfield as well). The italics are those in the AA squad.

Goals:

52 Elliott
46 Higgins
43 Long
41 Greene
40 Pickett
39 West
38 Curtis
37 Heeney
35 Keays
33 Bailey

Goal assists:

23 West
19 Heeney
16 Long
14 Bailey, Higgins, Keays, Pickett
13 Curtis, Elliott
11 Greene

Tackles:

88 Heeney
85 Curtis
82 West
79 Keays
73 Pickett
66 Greene
52 Higgins
51 Elliott
49 Bailey
43 Long

Disposals:

542 Heeney
433 Bailey
391 Pickett
390 Keays
350 Greene
313 West
273 Elliott
246 Long
223 Curtis
217 Higgins

Basically a good number of goals but not that much of anything else, and the least disposals of any of them.

On those stats it looks like Long was a bit lucky and West and Higgins were a bit stiff. Elliott kicking 52 was comfortably in especially because he's at the end of his career and plays for Collingwood.

It’s all preconceptions.
Battle has a better season with us before he leaves but is in the squad for the hawks!

One could make the argument that the colours Long currently wears may have tipped the odds in his favour

NAS Foxfooty interview after AA jacket 28/8

Thrilled for NAS!

And for Battle for that matter. Who managed to get an all Australian gong despite having a worse season, statistically, than last year. Some times it’s the intangibles that are to be expected, unfortunately, that make the difference. Just ask Wilkie.

Pigs arse. Not that that club is well represented, but it’s apt.

Amazing effort considering we were the 5th worst for inside 50s the AFL!

Also need to look at the midfield that are delivering the ball with our midfield very much in the development mode also young up-and-coming but still rapt he could impact games and very importantly the way he got his goal kicking accuracy from 52% to 63% not an easy thing to do over a single pre season!
