Can someone please tell me why we didn't draft Maddie Hendrie ?
Hopefully Madaleine Quinn is one Maddie that makes up for that. Her highlights video looks really good.
We didnt have a selection in the 2023 supplementary draft. We only had 2 selections in the main draft Sarah and Laura.
We gave up our later picks for Giselle Davies( maybe she was meant to take care of that all round tall spot) and Kiara Hillier.
We gave up pick 1 in the supplementary draft to Geelong for Laura Gardner and had no further picks available.
Ally Morphett had her maiden year the previous year. I guess we were limited with spots. We'd picked up Chloe and Lucy pre draft.
Does anyone know why we didnt have the pick 1 in the main 2023 draft. I thought us getting Chloe and Lucy we didnt give anything up and Collingwood and Carlton were given compensation band picks by the afl.

Thanks for that. Seeing Maddie play so well for Carlton is really depressing. I'm happy she's doing well but we missed out big time there.

I thought the supplementary draft was the one immediately after our first season, while what you call the “main draft” in 2023 was after the season where we qualified for the finals. And that is why we didn’t have the number 1 pick.

In some ways we were dudded by finishing last and not getting a decent number 1 pick. But given we were able to pick up Molloy essentially for free, we can’t really complain. And while Gardiner wouldn’t have cost us the number one pick in a proper draft, she’s been as important to making us competitive with the mid-table teams as Molloy has.

Chloe and Lucy came before the 2023 supplementary draft.

We didn't get pick 1 in the main draft because we had just played finals and so we weren't entitled to it. The pick we got for finishing last was pick 1 in the 2023 supplementary draft that we traded for Laura Gardiner.

I did feel confused when I was writing it up.
Thank you I was hoping for clarification

Assuming no-one other than those already known are leaving:
An athletic tall forward
An athletic tall defender
Sadly with no third I can't vote for another strong inside mid to supplement Laura and Tanya.
Also assuming we will be drafting Maddie and Alex.
Have you actually voted? Doesn’t count if you don't vote.

I’m not sure of Neyland’s best position but I suspect she’ll start as a (half) forward. She’s not super tall but can take a contested mark. She’s mobile and good at ground level too.

Beyond Neyland and Quinn, there are some others from our academy who impressed me in the academy matches, though none had a big impact in the AFL academy vs All-Stars match, suggesting they’re a little way down the overall draft talent pecking order.

There’s a lass called Kiara whose surname escapes me. The only other thing that I recall about her (off-field) is that she is from a family of Pies supporters. She looms as a midfielder, not a truly big-bodied mid but a little bigger than Hurley and Gardiner. She was a bit inconsistent in her impact during the academy series matches I saw but she delivered a few truly eye-catching moments.

Then there’s Grace (Parsons?) whose a tall forward. A long way from being prolific but an accurate shot for goal when she gets a chance. (Watching Davies and Amilton take their too-infrequent contested marks, and then butcher set shots from right in front, did my ‘ead in this season.)

Thanks, I mucked up the voting.
I haven't followed the wider matches so have nothing intelligent to offer beyond what's been written here by yourself, Calli and Joey who seem to follow it much more closely.
Davies ended up being a disappointment and Lexi is vigorous but in and out of games.

Here's what RMC has to say about Yerbury (Kiera). A few different articles...

And a decent ruck also. The North Shore highlights video looks good

I must admit I tended to watch the under 16s moreso as thats where I think we have a lot of standout talent 2 of who were chosen in the under 16 all stars(Isabella Evans and Emily Hollisgworth)
As for the 18s we have a couple of the under-agers who did really well and will go around again (Charlotte Tideman and Evie Bowie). Charlotte will be in the 2026 Aflw academy along with Grace Tracey.
For the draftee agers i was impressed with Kiera. She was very consistent and id be all for picking her.
Apart from the obvious 2 Alex and Madaleine.
I also really liked what I saw of Cassidy Mcarthur lanky good mover excellent marker
Good finisher
Mentioned in this article.
The girls that were chosen for the Allies are on this list.
Molly.Thomas obviously played some good games to get into the Allies. From memory played through midfield and pushing forward also.

Apparently we are getting Poppy Boltz and Calton are interested in Ally Morphett.
Where did you read this. The latest article on vflw app shows Carlton interest in Gold Coast ruck and Swans not wanting to let Ally go.
Crows young gun requests trade as Blues go big - https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/news/1454650

Poppy Boltz is quite the character. Very chatty in a tik tok I just watched. Has had a few injuries and has made the move from backs to forward with some success.
She was one of the 2 that slept in and missed the flight home from a match in Melbourne , not the worst indiscretion
The daughter of 2 Olympic runners.

For real? Two high quality players. Don't know what to think. Don't want to lose Ally. Would love to get Poppy Scholz (I assume that's who we're talking about?).

I also had this thought: Riley Beveridge reported on the W show after we exited Gowans that there had been murmurings of player discontent from early in the season. Could this have anything to do with Ally and her wanting out and our decision to exit Scotty instead? Pure speculation on my part with not a lot to go on.

It would be very interesting to know why Ally appears to be interested in moving. Is/was it related to Gowans and if so, in what way? Hard to imagine that it's money. A puzzle.
It wasn't me

Carlton can have her for 3 1st round draft picks plus a capable forward.
