Giants have 4 Academy players rated in the top 26 for 2026 compared to zero for the Swans. Sounds like we should be prepared to trade out some of our future picks if need be.

The RMC AFLW Draft Guide has dropped. Neyland (7th in power rankings), Quinn (20th) and Yerbury (21st) are all rated top 30.

Grace Parsons (180 cm KPP) and Amaia Wain (179 cm ruck/KPP) are also profiled.

So looks like we could have a lot of taller players coming in the door. Just what we need!
We currently have 4 spots open? Any more likely? Steele-Park?
KIara Hillier, Giselle Davies, Maddy Collier and Bec Privitelli.
We dont necessarily want to trade too much away from next year. We do have 3 in the 2025 national future girls squad of 48.
Charlotte Tidemann
Grace Tracey
and Frances Walsh.
Grace Tracey pictured in article was MVP in the future's game for one of the sides and Charlotte had a great game also. I figure theyll figure high in the rankings next year.
I think Alex this year has firmed a lot from her original draft ranking as the year progressed and also her testing results. Kiera Yerbury has also firmed.
Charlotte and Grace could possibly do the same and in 2026 and end up high on the draft boards and seem to address needs and very talented. Dont know much about Frances.
Im definitely not trading away a high pick in 2027 when Isabella Evans comes through.
I also dont mind Cassidy MacArthur from this year's Academy class.

That's an excellent get but im very concerned about Morphett. I hope she stays.
Can hold her to her contract that she signed. Unless we get a stupidly good offer. Which Carlton won’t be able to offer with the like 4 others they are trying to bring in.

Morphett has a longer contract than Smith and is well younger therefore I’d say that she would bargain a well higher pick to get her to Carlton

Good story on her recent journey.
What i really like about it is how she approached her setback. She clearly has much upside and her physique and results show the work she has put it. With that mentality and discipline she probably has immense upside from her already outstanding returns.
She only took up AFL towards the end of Year 12 and was competing in heptathlon at a national level.

She's followed by Zippy on insta and Zippy's dad liked the Taylor Smith announcement re wanting to be traded to Sydney. Im happy when Zippy is happy.

She moves really well for her size. Very good left foot kick from distance. She's a good size physically for a taller player and clearly has worked to get the right balance in strength and movement. She takes some good marks and is really clever with goals out the back of a contest positioning well for the loose ball and snap for goal. Also some good marks in this footage.
Does anyone know if Ally would be in the top payment tier. How many would be on that level and where Taylor might fit. Im assuming she might be a high earner.

I watch a lot of the Academy and Sydney Prems comp. My 2c worth.
Aly Neyland is a great talent (but very raw). Had nearly 2 years off with a knee and hit the ground running this season. Will only get better.
Maddy Quinn is a good prospect, but not what the Swans need if Morphett stays. Decent in the ruck, great below the knees, links up well for a handball receive and give.
Kiera Yerbury could be anything. Works hard, has had some outstanding games this season. Lots to like and worth a shot.
Grace Parsons shows some flashes but is a long term prospect. Has great moments, but is a low possession player. A few years in the gym and you never know.
Amaia Wain is the one that’s under the radar. She could be anything. Super athletic, quick and agile. She travels from Northern NSW and once settled will come along quickly. Her season in the Sydney Prems was outstanding. One to watch and the highest upside easily.
Of next years crop, Grace Tracey and Frankie Walsh showed the most to me.

She has a liking for your team.

Smith is exactly what we need, so I'm all for it. I guess she'll cost us at least our first rounder. We'll need to find a way to be left with something like pick 20 to match any bid on Neyland (plus other picks for Quinn and Yerbury). We should most likely be prepared to trade out our 1st rounder next year (or, hopefully, just trade it back).

Ally probably isn't one of our top tier paid players, and that is probably why she is seeking a move - just the same as with Smith. I'm guessing as our captains and high draft picks who first made the crucial commitment to come to the Swans when we really needed them, Molloy and McEvoy will be top tier. McEvoy probably can't command a top 5 pay packet from her next contract onwards (I don't know when she's out of contract) but Molloy certainly will. Clearly we are offering Smith a top tier in order to attract her to come when she is happily ensconced in a top of the table side. Gardiner, Hurley, Ham, Morphett & Zippy would probably be the balance of our top paid players in their next contracts with players like Tarrant and Kennedy also deserving good contracts. Some of those will not yet be getting top dollar because of their juniority - but I can imagine Zippy will soon commanding a top wage because she is our most talented player (although not yet our best).

Anyway, happy days that Smith has asked to be traded to us!

As we thought some of those early seconds/late firsts are being stock piled by the GCS.

Sydney need to get one if GWS's bid threat on Neyland comes true

Wow, after a few days of very little today there was an avalanche of action. Suns doing unbelievably to land Hatchard as well as doing a good job amassing so many picks to match bids on their Academy players. Hopefully they can bounce up the ladder next season - it's impossible to see them remaining cellar dwellers with the amount of talent their academy is producing.

Adelaide are doing well to regenerate their list. Yes, they are losing some good players just as they were starting to slip down the ladder, but they are getting a lot of young talent in return that should stand them in good stead for the future.

Carlton have profited from the Suns desire to trade out players and bring in currency getting Whitfort relatively cheaply and ruck Lauren Bella to boot. Carlton also profited trading their F1st + F3rd for Norths 1st rounder + F2nd - I can't see why North did that, especially when it may cost them Kristie-Lee Westin-Turner. Am I alone in seeing Carlton as the clear winners in that trade? Sure, I get that NMFC must have decided they rather have a presence in next year's draft than this year's, but was that really the best deal they could get?

The Giants did a nice bit of business with the Crows - giving picks 21 & 39 for Adelaide's F1st. I think we could have done that deal with the Giants happily too. I wonder if we weren't interested or the Giants preferred the Crows F1st?
