Here’s a hypothetical: With our reported interest in Rowell, his delayed re-signing with GC and the emergence of Ned Long. Is he now superfluous to needs?

E.g. For a future midfield mix do we want two inside extractors in him and long to play alongside Daicos for the next 10 years? Or are we better off targeting an inside/out midfielder ala Reid for that 3rd piece of the long term puzzle?

I was all for getting him last year if the price was right but with Long's development it's not really a pressing need at this point.

I sort of agree. Not sure having 2 defensively minded inside mid is ideal.

This is the reason why I prefer Butters, who offers more of an inside/outside combination.

Only as a DFA for depth. I think we’d just keep Sullivan for that, though.

I’d let Cameron leave if it meant we could bring either of those in. It would set us up for the next 8-10 years.

I’d cop losing Cameron if it meant we were to get Rowell or Butters.

Get ROB via free agency, cop a downgrade in the ruck for setting up our starting midfield for the next decade.

The hypothetical tradeoff would be worth it IMO.
