In the order of priority I think midfielders are more important. A good midfield makes the defenders and forwards look better. A midfielder can still win the ball irrespective of whether you have all Australians or middling players in the 50 metre arcs.

Case in point we are premiership favourites, without notable key forwards and a former AA fullback that is not in his best form.

There are ways to strategies and play with player deficiencies in key positions, not so much in the midfield.
