I’ve never been on board with this absurd idea that each line/position has a budget. Are we really going to knock back Rowell because the combined cost of his and ND contract takes up too much of the mid budget.
It just nonsenses IMO.

The guy who broke the Flanders news posted it on this thread a couple of weeks ago. He doesn't give us much info at all but his old man works at Collingwood in the recruiting area. He said we were right into him but didn't actually say we will land him. He's given a couple of good tit bits over the years. I've known him for a few years and he knows his stuff but he doesn't give out any info. He would know much more but doesn't divulge

What I’ve read was “industry sources across the AFL are aware of growing unrest from some Pies players about the state of the list build.” The article loosely implies that McReery is one, but if that’s correct Ralph was clever to not name McReery as one of those players. He’s legitimately the most chill bloke on our list and probably the last guy that would give two shits about our list build.
Any player TBH.

Sorry mate I’m still not there with you yet and remain in the believe it when I see it camp (I remember the Carlton nuffie walshisgoat posting it). It just feels like Ralph has a stick up his arse about how well we’re approaching our list build unlike his club and he’s positioning for when someone from the GC asks for a trade to us. I’m guessing he’s been in contact with them on the basis of him pedaling the Hill and now McReery stuff.

All players know you have to pay overs to get good players into you club, especially if you want to stay at the pointy end of the ladder.

Seems to be a pretty much "industry wide" campaign to get as many unsettling articles out about the Pies (in any way shape or number) at the present time. Why have we upset em now??

It might seem industry-wide, but it just seems to be Ralph spewing daily garbage to fill his quota
I expect all of our players are getting huge offers to move, that is no surprise, and likely happening across the entire comp, so no surprises. But to say the players are unhappy is just pure nonsense, and untrue, and they are linking it with bringing in JSOS, the journos are being fed garbage, couldnt be further from the truth, the players will always support the clubs pursuit of talent.
The other thing also is players know everything that is going on, because they all have the same managers across the comp, it's not like you can hide these things. Something is happening at GC because players are getting linked to them, and given what we heard regarding Hardwick and Ben King, it doesn't take much to work out something is brewing behind the scenes.
Are people in the media and player management group just unhappy that our coach talked openly about the Silvagni thing? Perhaps it's ruffled more feathers than anyone could have anticipated. This feels more like a character assassination of the club at this point.
I really do hope this isn't trickling down and affecting the state of mind of the players.

Also, this stuff just happens. Players leave, what's important is that we get something valuable in return. Port lost Houston last year, try to imagine how much of a blow that would still feel like to them. They got in return a mid-table forward and Atkins who already retired. Whilst extremely annoying, this is also fascinating. We'll surely receive some solid stocks in return if any of these rumors come to fruition.

I’d say the player managers stir up a lot of shit too and they would be the ones seeing their job get a lot harder trying to negotiate a big pay day for their clients and themselves.

Agree players do get Big Offers to Move Clubs. Majority don't go real far but a few do
I accept more that Opposition Team has made a Big Offer to some of our Players and not be them not happy as seems the Opposite from the Club since Fly Took Over as Head Coach

If the word about the ruck rule change is true Cameron is going to struggle, no more standing and wrestling but going back to ruckman jumping at the ball attempting to grapple will be classed as a block that would explain why we haven't extended his contract

And this is why a lot of them are pre-empting that their player may miss out if you bring a few guys in on good money.
It’s the managers mate, and then leaking it to the media claiming their player is unhappy.
Ugh, hate to have to make that point because it’s giving air time to Ralph’s BS and I’m adamant we have to stop sharing and reposting his stuff here, but take a minute to think about it. Who could possible be upset about us bringing in a 27yo KPD on 600k when a third of our best 22 is over 30 and we have something like 15 players OOC? It’s not a big pay packet and in an area of need. The answer is not Beau McReery and Bobby Hill, that’s absolute effing nonsense.
Two logical conclusions:
1. Ralph is making it up for clicks and because he’s got a severe case of tall poppy syndrome against the Pies
2. The player manager of one of our OOC players is feeding him that info to try and pressure the club. Can’t be Pendles Sidey or Howe, very much doubt it’s Elliott who were probably going to offer a 2y deal. That leaves someone who may not get another contract, say a Frampton because it’s his position, or someone on the cusp like Titch. Checkers at a stretch because he may be one where we don’t want to spend the coin he’s asking for or Cameron because he’s hard balling.
Either way the extrapolation from a dumbarse to random names and random trade scenarios based on pure speculation is not worth a second thought.
