Surely there needs to be some level of punishment or requirement for journo's to face up to for spewing some of the garbage they have been rolled out. I get they have quotas and need to generate "clicks/views" but some of the dribble that gets presented is blatant lies and misdirection.

I can't imagine too many professional organizations would be accepting of such dribble being spouted, so why do clubs (which more and more are becoming professional organizations) just accept it? This goes across many codes and leagues, but it feels like the AFL "media" is just spiraling towards resembling that GIF of monkeys flinging feces at each other, and clubs/players just let it happen? For me too many journalist, or dare I suggest "pundits" (which is basically a fancy word for - I used to play the sport so I can wheel out any nonsense that fits my narrative or agenda), have this "free reign" to spin whatever BS floats across their vapid minds - all without punishment or repercussion for what they say or do.

Being fortunate to know a number of both ex and current players across nearly every club in the league, some of the stuff that gets spoken or said about them - with zero basis of truth or evidence, is ridiculous and in some bad scenarios can be quite damaging to their own situations/relationships without so much as a 'clip' to the person spewing the garbage.

Also, this stuff just happens. Players leave, what's important is that we get something valuable in return. Port lost Houston last year, try to imagine how much of a blow that would still feel like to them. They got in return a mid-table forward and Atkins who already retired. Whilst extremely annoying, this is also fascinating. We'll surely receive some solid stocks in return if any of these rumors come to fruition.
Playing footy professionally is a job. Like any job there are those who are more ambitious than others, others who may be impatient and those who feel underutilised or under-remunerated. Unlike other jobs however, there are only a limited number of alternative employers and usually someone who is either holding you back from advancing or is in direct competition for your position.

Managers are effectively recruiters. Plenty are willing to blow smoke up your proverbial as they rely on commission, however unlike recruiters, managers need to create the market as well as maintain relationships with others in the market such as clubs and their administration. The most effective way they can do this is to run the media.

Because of the above there'll always be movement. Just as a company must act in the interests of its shareholders, the club must act in the interests of its members. If this means 'selling' an asset to realise its maximum value, so be it.

Perfect destination for someone looking to move to a successful club with a strong culture.

If the word about the ruck rule change is true Cameron is going to struggle, no more standing and wrestling but going back to ruckman jumping at the ball attempting to grapple will be classed as a block that would explain why we haven't extended his contract
Leppitsch and McRae are both from the Leigh Matthews mould, they don't rate ruckman to pay them highly. An given how th game is now being played, whilst they are important, they are not a deal breaker. Look at Melbourne and Max Gawn, North with Xerri, Gawn is a legend, Xerri is excellent, and their clubs lose routinely for fun.

I know this is unpopular, but the club will know that if we can get something to improve our list if Cameron wants to leave, then they will do it, which is why they are talking to Soldo. If Cameron nets us a top 10 pick to get into Reid or Butters, then you absolutely have the conversation. As we saw on Saturday, another gun midfielder is paramount to help Nick, hence why we went heavily after Matt Rowell. I trust the club to make the right call, since 2022, when Fly and Co arrived, we have had a dream run, so they will be doing a lot behind the scenes to make us better. And if players don't like it, then so be it, but you would be mad to leave our club, unless like Darcy and Bobby the lure of WA beckons, which is different.

CONTRACTED Collingwood premiership star Beau McCreery is the subject of significant trade interest, with rivals believing some Pies players are disgruntled by the club’s recent recruiting raids.

McCreery is contracted to the end of 2027 but has had his head turned by significant rival offers from multiple clubs as Collingwood attempts to secure Blues free agent Jack Silvagni.

Gold Coast is one of the clubs who is in the market for an elite small forward and has asked questions over the future of Bobby Hill, who is adamant he is happy at the Pies.

McCreery is aware of that rival interest as he rehabs a hamstring injury and has not immediately discounted it.

His skillset as a rugged and pacy pressure forward who can also go into the midfield is highly prized across the AFL.

Collingwood will be able to hold firm given McCreery’s contract but the industry sources across the AFL are aware of growing unrest from some Pies players about the state of the list build.

Star ruckman Darcy Cameron has been trying to secure an increased contract all season, while Brody Mihocek has so far rejected the club’s offer of a one-year deal on modest terms.

Scott Pendlebury will re-sign alongside Steele Sidebottom, with Jeremy Howe also happy to play on for a year on a bottom-dollar contract.

But the attempted raid on McCreery is a fascinating sign of the willingness of rivals to test the loyalty of Collingwood stars who have stayed for less.

Collingwood is adamant the Silvagni offer is not about offering more than Carlton, keen for him to cross clubs only for the right reasons to play with friends in a premiership window.

Collingwood used up as much as $1.8m in cap space to secure Harry Perryman and Dan Houston but is determined to continue adding to its list to stay in the premiership window.

The club is yet to offer deals to Tom Mitchell, Mason Cox and Will Hoskin-Elliott, while Jamie Elliott has been offered a two-year deal.

Carlton coach Michael Voss hit out at his premiership teammate Craig McRae on Saturday when he made public his “first date” with Carlton’s Silvagni.

Voss is fully aware players take meetings with rival coaches and has no issue with that trend but believed the publicity over it made it hard for Silvagni to return to the club with his head held high.

The Blues are holding firm on their four-year deal for Silvagni on about $650,000 despite being crestfallen at the ACL tear for first-year defender Harry O’Farrell.

It will significantly compromise their ability to replace Silvagni next year but the Blues are still hoping he might sign their free agency contract.
Jesus Ralphy is really trying to lay the “unrest” line on thick. Never mind that all these supposedly disgruntled players are re-signing, slowly but surely 🙄

Might Explain our Chase for Reeves as be on lot less money then Cameron

If Collingwood players are disgruntled because we are....checks notes

Trying to recruit new players via trade, then should all the other 17 clubs be full of disgruntled players?
We need to go after gruntled players!

There are probably 3 main ways to stop this. The first two are very unlikely to happen as there are too many variables which the club can't control, and the third is unlikely to happen as it would risk upsetting the carefully-controlled AFL ecosystem

1. Supporters stop buying or interacting with the journalists and their employers who peddle this nonsense.
2. The AFL disciplines its own accredited journalists.
3. The club boycotts journalists who repeatedly report inaccurate or misleading information.

Cameron, Bobby, Mihocek, Elliot, Beau - anyone else want out according to these reporters? 😂
How about we just focus on trying to win this year's flag FFS....
Getting sick of reading about contracts, who we are chasing FM, who might go...
We are in the most important faze of the H&A season.
Just venting and not having a go at you Chrispiesssss.

I'm sure we are.

Obviously the journo's have got nothing else to do during the footy season other than discuss our player's contract negotiations.

They could be talking about the rabble at Melbourne, Carlton, North, Eagles, how Saints players are angry at their club for offering TDK millions & half a dozen other players meaning they could lose NWM...but no, they'd rather concentrate on our 'too old, too slow' veterans & our contracted players.

Actually he sounds like exactly the kind of player Hine would like. Mihocek mkII

Yes and undersized (which he would have got criticised for). And in reverse I can definitely see Fly rating HDM’s supposed leadership potential and tactical nous highly.

That said, it’s not as controversial as it sounds. Whilst Hine would have put names and a draft list on the table, there is a committee that meets to discuss and tinker on the edges and Fly and assistant coaches would provide input to finalise the draft list order.

There has never been a bigger **** trying to disrupt than Ralph.

Every second day there’s another “disgruntled player” …

Its becoming tiresome and farcical

Hopefully the players feel the same way about Ralphy as they did about Robbo and it's seen as the slimey tripe it is.
