So clubs should be stealing their apparent incredible depth?
Nah I’d be going at their 15 to 25 players. The likes of Ah Chee, Lohman, Wilmot, Fort/ McInerney if they were 3-4 years younger, Lester, Starcevich and Gardiner. That group is going to be on $500k ish so you can pick them off at $700k.

Don’t waste your time with raw talent on the edges because they’re just happy getting game time and you don’t know what they’ll be. An example is the guy that was discussed this morning, O Henry. Another example would be Ed Allan. The Brisbane equivalent would be Marshall who’s looking good so far. You go pry him out with a good offer now and you don’t really know what you’ll have in 3 years time yet. It’s risky in win now mode.

The one I’d crawl over hot coals for is Wilmot. He’s the defensive version of McCreery.

I'll join you on the hot coals. I love Wilmot too.

I like him too. I won't be on the hot coals, but 'll applaud the committment of you two for enduring third degree burns for the club.

“I’d have him at the Western Bulldogs at the moment, but I know the Pies have obviously come really hard for him” was the quote specifically.

No change of mind, just that Sam thinks it’s the ideal fit with their defensive issues over ours, like we won’t up the ante for him also lol.
Guess him being a Scum Fan be hate him at Collingwood

Every point

Just feels awfully convenient that as soon as a player is essentially confirmed to come to Collingwood, a journo who just happens to barrack for an arch rival, discovers another suitor to said player

Every year like clockwork. Whereas they all pull themselves and offer to drive Geelongs targets down there

They keep raving on about the Bulldogs being right up there for him but next sentence is “pies are favourites though” so the Pies aren’t really favourites then? It’s deadset confusing and hard not to believe it’s all for engagement.

And I don’t mind some of Sam’s work, but he’s definitely got some bias.

Sorry to intrude but this is a massive media myth that seems to be accepted as fact by everyone now. He was a tall forward for his whole career until 2025 when he got moved to defence at his own request.

Helping out in the ruck is something a lot of forwards do as part of their role enabling teams to not have to play two pure rucks and he did that in his last couple of years as a forward. It's not being "thrown around" as the media keep telling us.

Just like they told us he was constantly getting dropped despite playing only three VFL games (all in 23') in the last 6 years.
You can still be dropped and not get picked in the VFL as well

It’s all about the sources on a story like this. Although I’m supremely confident he’s Collingwood bound there’s obviously going to be a different story depending on who you talk to. If you talk to Collingwood you’ll get a different story to what you’d get from his management and a different story to what you’d get from the Dogs. My guess is Edmund is speaking to the management and Gabelich the Dogs. If you’re a fan of Silvagni joining us you won’t have to wait long because if it’s the Dogs it’ll be widely reported by the end of the week. Someone will talk in a quiet week (probably Carlton).

There's seems to be a number of Carlton nuffys in the media and they seem to be unable to hide or even control their bias.

There's a lot of optimism on here about Reef's ability to become an important cog in defence.

He may work out but I'm not banking on him being any better than dean TBH. They have to be working on other options (aside from Silvagni).
The small sample size we had from Reef i think hes going to be handy back there. That was with 1 pre-season learning the position

You can but consistently dropped still doesn't really marry up with the facts.

2025 it was a broken hand and then a groin/OP issue, 2024 it was an ACL, 2023 he did a knee injury and missed the back part of the season including finals. 2022 he played 21 games when he was healthy. The facts are he has largely played when fit.

Elite speed and very good ground ball game at a minimum puts him ahead of Dean.

the small size means it can go either way. he has a few moments but its a big stretch to think he is a lock.
Nothing certain of course. Hopefully his knee is all good and he locks down that role next year. We need a few hits with these younger blokes to hang on to being in contention

I heard we're into Kane Tenace...
