We need key position backs, not ruck / forward
I think we need mid career talls - any persuasion. None of our talls are young and there's likely to be a gap between the current ones going and the young ones coming through - if the young ones come through.

The one thing to keep in mind with Leek is that he was drafted at 21 so he turns 24 this year (for context he’s 15 months older than McInnes). He’s clearly not the finished product after 3 years in the system and limited exposure, but nor is he the typical young KPP that’s afforded time after being poached. Given trade cost and salary he’d be expected to produce as of Rd 1 2026.
I think he'd be able to come in and play right away, but I am admittedly biased after watching his stretch of 6 or so games last year. I think he suffers from having a very hard backline to break into (the chemistry between Taylor, Buckley & Idun is incredible).

It feels lazy (at most generous) to keep returning to comparisons with Aliir Aliir, but he similarly didn't debut until 21 and didn't find his rhythm until 24 - then turned into a gun after changing teams...

The bra makes me think that "chasing him" was Benny Hill style.

Don’t get me wrong I’m fully on board with him as a target and agree that Taylor, Buckley and HH is a significant roadblock to senior footy for him. My post was purely to highlight that he could be a slower burn than what you’d normally suspect. In the worst case scenario of Maynard leaving I’d much prefer any compensation being used to trade Leek in over other alternatives.

It's one of those awkward things as there's an element of stereotyping, but also an element of understanding. I work at a school with a heap of African kids - on sports day, watch the Sudanese kids in the high jump, ****ing amazing - the running races they are awesome too - don't bother watching them in the discus. The athletic Aussie, Afghani, Central and West African kids smash them in the core strength disciplines. The tribal African genetic pools were relatively small, so their athletic traits are more predictable by region - most of the Sudanese kids will take a while to get their core strength up to scratch.

I was told today Eagles will lose Reid at years end.

Eagles are planning on putting together a huge offer to Ed Allan.

Could this be a Houston type situation with Reid where we land him?

Lucky we have Ed tied down on contracted terms and can control the situation.

However if it meant doing a deal for Reid and giving up Ed and a few other moving parts, I’d do it

And is Allen, Oscar Allen? Or Ed Allan mispelt?
I thought he meant Oscar, but it now makes more sense. Ed's WA football royalty. Straight swap of Ed for Harley sounds about right - it's the Rioli style football royalty tax that you've got to pay in a trade.

I think people need to temper their expectations in regards to Reid. We aren’t matching the absurd numbers that Essendon is allegedly offering him which means if we lose Allan it’s probably for a draft pick. I’m not sure we want to be put in to a position where we’re losing our most promising young talent for a lottery ticket.
