Not sure if this is the right way to go (we will probably know better towards the end of the season), but it looks like this could be the offseason to potentially "reset" if we have the desire to trade players that still have some value with all of the following players potentially on the table at the end of the season: Reid, Butters, Rowell, LDU, Richards.

Probably the best opportunity we will get to give Nick Daicos a midfield partner for the next 6 to 8 years, however will require trading some of the following: Maynard, Hill, Cameron, De Goey, Allen.
You lost me at Degoey ...

I think Bailey humphries from GC might be gettable.
I think of this character every time I hear his name. He'll make the AFLs dream administrator after his career:

I think so but still not a regular. I here he wants to come home
You get him, find another out of favour young kid w potential and there’s our midfield for the next 8 years without have to sell the farm

Man I wish Condon was going to be on the list next year - he’d have been our Darcy (for free)

In his first two years he has played 21 and 19 games leading into 2025 - not sure that’s not a regular

Certainly a lot of work ahead for our footy dept.

Leppitsch to earn his coin. Think he did pretty well in our recent off-season to secure Houston, Perryman and Membrey.

We can use that pick to trade for an established player that can come in and immediately play a role though.
That’s assuming a player that ticks the right boxes is actually available. The stars don’t align like they did for Houston every year.

I like this idea far more than selling the farm for Reid.

Get under-utilised talent from teams like GC when their value is lower, much like we did with Bobby from GWS.

Hard No on Butters, his body is cooked. Which is sad for the kid.
Huge courage with a slight body never ends well.

Alot of his family is in Melbourne these days.
How big can their offer be for a kid who hasn't been playing regular 1st footy? In 2 years he will be in a position to command good $$ if he performs at the Pies, which I think he will.

I think he needs to be playing seniors each week, and he will be looked after. The only reason he leaves will be because we keep him in the VFL.

Finn Callaghan wasn't a regular and Saints were offering a huge deal on potential.

West Coast clearly believes he will be comfortable in Perth.

Let's see how it all plays out.

Finn Callaghan has been a regular for the past two seasons after injury interrupted his first (shoulder from memory).

From the Hun tonight:

Collingwood star Brayden Maynard would join his brother, Corey, at North Melbourne if he accepts a blockbuster offer to play for the Kangaroos next season.

Maynard, 28, will weigh up a blockbuster offer worth as much as $6 million over six years to move to Arden St as an unrestricted free agent.

And North could also have an added trump card up its sleeve with Maynard’s brother, Corey, working at the club since 2022 as head of wellbeing and player development.
Corey Maynard played two games at Melbourne in 2017-18 and has since become a popular member of the Roos’ off-field team under coach Alastair Clarkson.

North enjoyed a breakthrough win over Melbourne on Sunday and have targeted Maynard for his hardness, leadership, defensive nous and team ethic.

The Kangaroos believe they are on the rise and want to add a Luke Hodge-style defensive general to bolster the back half.
And the club has significant salary cap room to add some more top-line talent in the belief the team is on the rise after years down the bottom of the AFL ladder.

The Kangaroos also have interest in Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury as an assistant coach when he winds up his brilliant playing career.

Pendlebury’s brother, Ryan, works as an assistant coach in the AFLW program, continuing the family ties.

The connections could bolster the Roos’ bid to land some more premiership experience to the club after missing out on a string of A-Grade recruiting targets over the past decade.

Collingwood has several key players out of contract at season’s end including Norm Smith medallist Bobby Hill, gun ruckman Darcy Cameron and Maynard.

But at least one of the trio could find a new home as a trade or free agency move could secure the Magpies a first-round pick in this year’s draft.

Collingwood has already traded its first-round pick in this year’s draft to land Port Adelaide star defender Dan Houston in last year’s trade period.

The Magpies have interest in star Gold Coast onballer Matt Rowell and West Coast free agent Oscar Allen.

Maynard is a beloved figure at Collingwood but would earn significantly more at North Melbourne on $1 million-a-season instead of $600,000 – $700,000 a year at Collingwood for two or three seasons.

As an unrestricted free agent, Collingwood would not be able to match a big-money offer from North Melbourne for him.
Free agency compensation could secure Collingwood a first-round draft choice pending the terms of the final offer from the Kangaroos.

Whose byline was it? That’s horrendous.

Gee they finally win a game and the Hun go full gushing fan boy as expected
