Yeah as I said, most of the fanbase are very bullish on him.

Ross rates him as a forward and said he wants him back there in post game presser in our last few weeks
It'd be interesting to know what Caminiti thinks. I doubt he gets a big enough offer to leave if he sees himself as a forward, but might not be happy if he viewed his future as a defender.

Is he contracted?

Yes, he is contracted for another year

I totally agree with you, but I find it strange Billy hasn't signed yet.
He's a low key guy. I'm trying to imagine that he's indicated to the club he's re-signing, but wants to hold off on the announcement.

No logic to my thinking, but I'll grasp at anything to justify why it hasn't been announced yet 😆

Contracted for another year. Just seems like a kid who wants to play and is completely team first.

As I said, ever present when available under Ross. Can’t imagine we just give him away seeing as even Twomey said we don’t want to lose him.

Heaps are completely team first, but also have a manager counselling them to do what's best for their career and future. If he's contracted though, bloody unlikely that anything happens.

Come in peace.

But failed forward?

He is a goal a game young tall forward across his first 2 years in the system.

This year (year 3), due to injuries and lack of depth. He has had to play key back and done a pretty impressive job. Most sensible saints fans rate him and don’t want to lose him. He is 22 in December and has been practically ever present since being listed late in pre season 2023.

Good luck for the rest of your finals campaign.
To answer your question, yes.

If he were a success up forward with no Membrey or King he’d have stayed forward. Owens, Wood and Sharman are all undersized and Marshall isn’t a forwards arseh*le so you were screaming for someone with a bit of size forward of the ball. All that time you had this goal a game forward looking lost ball in hand down back and you’re telling me Lyon didn’t think maybe we should swing him forward again (outside of that mid year spurt) to give our forward line a different look?

I speak for as many sensible Pies fans as you speak for sensible Saints fans in the hope that he sticks with the red in his stripes! I do appreciate the well wishes though 🤙

The logic was more that we had no one outside of Wilkie to play key back once Howard and Cordy went down.

Tauru was coming back from injury and then had that BS suspension.

Caminiti was all we had. Up forward they obviously felt that whilst it wasn’t ideal. They could get by with Sharman Owens and a young tall like Keeler or Heath.

Absolutely. He has a contract for next year as far as I know & should be good to go early next season. We will hopefully have more info then. But we can't guarantee he will kill it in defence.Time will tell.
No one is discussing him killing it in defence. People are talking about having KPD depth. He'll start preseason behind all of Moore, Howe, Frampton and Maynard as options to play tall. Maybe even McStay.

One name I am slightly surprised hasn't been raised here much is Connor Budarick, out of contract still at the suns. He is a solid small defender that would allow Perryman a permanent move in to midfield and I doubt would cost a lot from the suns, given the plethora of talent they've now stockpiled in their backline and with another on the way with Uwland 2.0 (yes I know he is more of a midfielder than his brother, but does shape like he would start his career more of a HBF before transitioning up the ground).

I know Budarick has had a few injuries throughout his career but has played 18 games this season, and been an important part of the suns backline, particularly the back half of this year.

Edit: Also played a bit up forward at times in the small pressure forward role - if Elliott was to eventually leave (and the concerns around Hill) that flexibility could be handy

Buller is going to go from a nobody to Wayne Carey now we are interested
I thought Buller was a mountain, but now I'll be pissed off if we don't get him.

Or maybe we're just taking on Melbourne's ski season dominance.

My take would be that despite what was going on if he were a success up forward he wouldn’t have been moved. Good forwards are hard to find so swinging a decent one back and keeping them there in a team that struggles to score (even one with availability issues) would be unusual. All that it would have achieved is a year of wasted development time as a forward and the potential to lose him with Collingwood sniffing around…

The comparison I’d make for any Collingwood people that are invested in the discussion is switching McInnes to defence in 2023. He was less advanced than Caminiti as a forward and was still viewed as a likely forward option at the time, we had Howe out of action with his fractured arm, Dean injured with his foot and Frampton through the ruck.

It might speak to philosophical differences between the two clubs, but I’m comfortable in suggesting that he won’t be a success as a forward into the future. I am wary of an ongoing discussion inviting other opinion and derailing a Collingwood trade thread so I might leave it with furious agreement on the bolded. The AFL needs to have a re-think on the VFL tribunal system, IMO, because that was a disgrace and it wasn’t the only one this year.

Merrett has met with Hawthorn according to Morris. Annoys me that they have so much capital to trade because he's the perfect fit for them.
Mitchell meeting another captain. Where is the media condemnation? Fly gets dumped on for doing a fraction of Mitchell’s dating. I wonder if any of them have considered the benefits of GUE?

Unfortunately it all comes down to selling newspapers and getting their social media accounts up to the point where you make money. Collingwood sells, hawthorn, not so much

If we've offered Brody 2 years I think thats more than fair, as long as the money isn't insulting. I love what he does for us but he cops a lot of punishment and I'd be concerned that his longevity isn't going to be Pendles/Sidey like, but more Travis Cloke like and the end comes quickly. No way would I give him 3 years and if someone else does I wouldn't begrudge him taking it.

Can anyone explain the so-called pull towards Queensland for Jamie? I thought he was from Euroa where his Mum and sister lived? Or have they packed up and gone north? He's the one I'd be more gutted about losing. Even so, 2 years is fair for him as well. Don't want to end up like West Coast giving big, long contracts to veterans, only to have it bite us on the arse

They're reporting that Mitchell met him. They're reporting that it contradicts what he said in his presser.

But they're not condemning him or calling him a liar.

His family live in Victoria, except for one brother who lives in Qld.

Two things for me. The first being I have NFI how Mitchell can be Teflon coated on this one. I don’t subscribe to the theory that Collingwood sells media this is a story with Mitchell. Pitching to another teams captain a few days out from a SF is ****ing nuts.

The second being that I don’t remember Fly being dumped on. I wasn’t particularly interested in the story because I was neither here nor there on Silvagni, but I remember the media being reasonably fine with it. The only query was that Fly was quite open with it because when he self reported at a presser I don’t think there’d been a suggestion he’d actually met with Silvagni only that we were interested? Unlike Mitchell who seems to just keep getting caught out.
