Interestingly on Gettable that Twomey listed us as being asking around for both Oscar Allen (again) and Butters. Obviously neither situation has developed much given it's March, but interesting nonetheless.
I dont think port will even consider letting Butters leave a year early, more a next year senario. But def ask the question for sure.

Neither do I. More a case of teams getting on the radar as early as possible I imagine

HOW KEY PIE’S DEPARTURE COULD SOLVE LOOMING FATHER-SON DILEMMA

An intriguing storyline is beginning to unfold at Collingwood, with the draft prospects of father-son hopeful Tom McGuane holding the potential to shape other player movements this upcoming off-season.

Tom, the son of 155-gamer Mick, is expected to turn the heads of recruiters this U18 season, as the Magpies work out how to snap up the promising prospect.

“(He) just fits hand-in-glove in terms of their list requirements,” Midweek Tackle’s Jon Ralph told Fox Footy on Tuesday night.

“He’s every bit a late first-rounder right now ... he’s 178cm, he has a beautiful sidestep. It’s just a matter of whether he’s Pick 18, Pick 20, or he roars up the charts with an amazing season. The fascination is, this year you need to have some quality points or picks to try and match those first-round bids from other clubs.”

And as out-of-contract premiership Brayden Maynard ponders his future, his front-runner North Melbourne could play a key role in the Pies acquiring McGuane via a free agency compensation pick.

“Do you feel like they’re desperate to keep Brayden Maynard, who’s been offered $1m over six years — do you feel like they’re anywhere near matching that bid?” Ralph asked.

“No one wants to force Brayden out, but I think they’ve known for a long time that North Melbourne was going to throw a massive deal at him.”

As of the end of Round 2 this year, Collingwood currently hold draft picks 28, 46 and 64 in what will need to be bolstered, should they wish to acquire the father-son prospect.

Maynard leaving wont help this situation given he a FA.
So according to Cal he’s currently sitting around pick 20 in the rankings, and we have pick 28. It sounds very much like we’ll easily have what we need to get him unless he rockets in to top 10, but even then we wouldn’t need to do anything near as drastic as trading Maynard to acquire him.

God I hate this sort of click bait nonsense.

At this point he may be pick 20, but with another impressive season that likely will change. Wouldn't be surprised around the 12-15 mark

Feels so strange to have so much trade news when we're literally 3 games into the seasons. I'm still recovering from the drama of the Houston trade.
Gettable just shouldn't be running at this time of year. There's no under 18s yet to talk about. All they can do is just crap on about speculative shit regarding players.

Coates league starts this weekend at least so imagine it will be on the agenda for next week's show

All these trade articles and podcasts wouldn't be developed if they weren't making numbers with readers and listeners. People continue to be sucked in and engage with them at greater levels than pure football content.

The whole talk of getting rid of Maynard to get McGuane in is rubbish.
The club is always preparing for the future and would have been ready for this. You aren’t doing your job right if you don’t.
They will be prepared. They have been watching him for a few years now. They're not silly.

Cal Twomey said even 4 years at 800-850k would be enough for North to get him.

We could easily match that.

I don’t have any worries or concerns about this. He’s a loyal guy and I doubt a million a year would be enough to sway him to that club.
Whats Cal base that on? The vibe? Speaking to Bruz exclusively? Or nothing as would be my first guess

And more so Cal basically said the News Corp stuff on Maynard is just click bait currently

Agree especially if we can offer him around the $800k at 4-5 years.
