Should be going hard for Leek.

We won’t though, because we are “backing them in”.
That's just Brady posturing. I'm sure behind the scenes we're doing our due diligence.

Pulled out of the Aleer race because they want Sam De Koning from Geelong, you heard it hear first....

Geelong entertaining moving on SDK so they can get the draft capital for Marshall & Curnow...
Yeah, you’d imagine it’s something else came up for them to drop out of the deal for someone they’ve been chasing for 24 months. So the SDK stuff makes sense.

I said months ago we should have put a big offer in front of SDK because they were going to need picks for thier trades.

Why would he commit to play for North... His motivation would obviously be to play with his brother and the club he supported as a kid.

This AFL rule change helps the six clubs who traded out their first round picks across 2023 and 2024.
2023: Brisbane, Fremantle, Port Adelaide, Richmond ✔️✔️✔️✔️
2024: Collingwood, Geelong ✔️✔️

Never change AFL.
Such an amateur operation, it is not beyond the scope to think clubs have strategised, seen which clubs have traded out of the first round in previous years and picked a future year, identified a couple of key players coming out of contract and planned for less competition with other clubs needing to use their first round picks that year, than bam, the AFL hits the reset button, too bad if you would have otherwise have done things differently in previous years, everyone gets a do over!

I presume we will be penalised this year for having already traded out of this year's first round, no benefit for us, despite the fact we effectively took this year's first rounder last year?

Aleer makes no sense next to Chom. Both best as interceptors primarily.
Agree but not against strengthening up our tall stocks and sorting out the nuances after that.

That said I'm not greatly across Aleer's career to date nor what the salary or trade demands would be.

Could be a buyer opportunity there though just because of how the deal fell over.

Four of the two teams made finals this year (including the premier). One of the remaining two made them last year. The last one has had the best results over the last 10 years in the comp.

No way that you could argue that you are trying to balance the competition - flat out looking after the stronger clubs to give them a better chance of winning / pumping $ through the competition. There is no burning platform to give these teams a free kick.

While we don't have a first this year, we should have a tick for this year in a similar way - the decision was made last year to trade out.
