Please pass this on to Brady.

He’d make a lot of sense as a point of difference in our midfield. He was a beanstalk when he first got drafted and is slowly developing physically. Would not surprise me if he ends up having Josh Kennedy-lite career trajectory if he can find a club where he can have plenty of stoppage minutes.

Why the charade though? Sleeping in a North jumper, buying the Shinboner book etc…. If he didn’t want to come to Victoria, he could have made it known and a trade for pick 1 would’ve been on the table.

Though I spose, getting picks in the next draft was better in the long run considering the players we picked up.
I think he was just a dumb kid.

If you peg his mental/emotional age at about 10 years old it makes perfect sense.

Furthermore, the 272-game former Crow has implored the club to strongly consider younger players, specifically picking out North Melbourne’s Tom Powell.

The 23-year-old, drafted from SANFL club Sturt, played 23 games this season and finished eight in North’s best and fairest.

Powell is contracted until the end of 2026.

“I’d be looking at teams like Gold Coast and North Melbourne who have invested heavily in the draft,” he said further.

“The Roos in particular have a whole heap of highly talented youngsters that aren’t playing at the moment. Go and grab some of those guys. Tom Powell for example, I think he’s an excellent player. He’s a South Australian kid, his dad (Matthew) played for the Crows (16 games in the 1990s).

“He’s doing some (good) stuff at North Melbourne. But they’ve got George Wardlaw, Harry Sheezel who will be a midfielder, and others that are moving through there. I just wonder whether you mightn’t be able to say, ‘Hey, come over to Adelaide and in a better side you’ll be a much better player, and finals are on the agenda here as well’.

“I think you’re scouring the competition to look for players that may be are on the cusp of breaking out and you’re offering them the opportunity to come to a good club.”

He'd be perfect, round us out nicely.
He'd have a field day dishing it out to LDU, McKercher, Sheezel for a decade.
But honestly until we start winning games how do you sell that vision??

I think Powell would be at the peak of his value, if he wanted to go, this year would be the best year in terms of contract he could demand and what we would get for him.

I wouldn't trade Powell. We've grown him with the group over 5 years, he's rated by the coaches and will hit his peak years soon.

We need more guys in his age bracket not less. Our stacked midfield still features no AA players or guys winning their matchups week in, week out. ie we don't have a surplus until there's a pool of 5-6 guys dominating that part of the ground most weeks.

But then he has to live in Adelaide.
Oh Yeah Reaction GIF

He's also at that age where we could start seeing rapid improvement.

fingers crossed one of these guys needs to step up.

I like Powell as well, but...

LDU, Wardlaw, Sheezel, McKercher, FOS

How long do you think he will be a starting 18 midfielder with us picking up those guys. That is basically a whole bunch of top 5 picks ahead of him. He will devalue significantly after he is pushed out.

I'd love him for depth, but it is a big ask players to stick around as a depth player.

Yep. Happy to keep Tom, but he is every chance to become a fringe player next year. If we could get Butts + steak knives for him it improves our team and we should do it.

Not sure he would be keen on it though. Adelaide is a long way out of town.

Powell is an interesting one. His best is good although when played as an inside mid it feels as though he is a level below the top midfielders. I believe he gets pushed out to a wing/half forward and he can become an important role player for us...

In regard to trading him it all depends on what is offered. He certainly isn't un-tradable in my opinion and if the offer is good enough I'd entertain trading him.

Butts and a 2nd rounder for Powell - it would certainly be a discussion starter.

Unless Powell boosts up his acceleration or increases his 50-100m sprint time this off-season. Idgaf.
And I really like Powell

That is his big challenge. I think we could have Sheezel and one more one-paced mid if we add Colby and FOS in there but would like a big-bodied mid as one of them if possible. Out of all the mids, he gets the short straw on where he is played v where he is best suited but that happens when you don't have the complete package and athleticism is the big one for him.

You're masochists if you want to trade Powell for Butts,
This is Griff isn't getting a game because he is sitting behind the best in the business all over again and instead of dumping a pick we got for free, we're about to give away a 22 year old talented player.
C.Comben is statically headed to become a very good packmen.
Pink, Logue and Butts, who is 25, will all be overtaken by Dawson and Whitlock by the end of next year.

lets identify an area of need and go out and get it, before trading away talent.
