I think this is the first time in a long time I’ve heard as much negativity around a draft in a long time. Last year the depth was amazing. I personally had Shanahan and Armstrong similar and loved The year from Reid and in some way or form all fell in the draft.
Trainor as an absolute steal also shows that. A concern with concussion took him from top 5 to outside the top 20.
Also another Duursma early is concerning…

I don't think this draft is as bad as it is made out. Might be a little light on the superstar potential of last years draft and perhaps not all that deep after 45, but that doesn't mean teams can't find good players that become elite players in time.
It could be one of those years where teams find some good prospects outside 30, like Ah-Mu, Finn Davis or Dahlitz aren't really on the radar of the top 40.
Even someone like a Hetherton with his injury issues might turn out to be quite a steal with a late pick.
Seems like there's somebody rising into top 10 or 20 or 30 calculations every week based on performances from the CTL, so from that point of view I've got some idea who might be top 20, but beyond that it keeps changing rapidly.

Colby is our Merrett? Sorry, Not on the same planet as footballers. One has distinguished himself over 12 seasons as a champion midfielder who almost always makes the right decision in heavy traffic (a la Bont); the other is starting out and has a long way to go …

Umm Zach Merrett and Colby have played the same amount of finals. Hardly distinguished himself. He's a good player when measured against other Essendon impostors, running around getting cheap ball. He'd be a relative shit truck for us right now.

He can run, which makes him an improvement on Phillips already. Not sure if he would play wing or inside, is capable at both. At worst he is good depth. At best he sorts out his kicking a bit and helps us in transition. I know that the recycled first rounder is the biggest trap in footy, but I don't mind this if he is cheap.
