Do we just want to pick up players for the sake of saying we got one? Some bizarre targets.
It’s a bold strategy Cotton.

Tsatas, Spargo.

Who’s next?

I’ll put some money down on Corey Durdin

I completely get that posters are frustrated / underwhelmed with the links to Spargo and Tsatas sadly I think that's the shallow pool we're swimming in; under-performing, fringe best 22 players. The other shallow pool is obviously the aging veteran who believes he has a few more years in him but the incumbent club are only offering a one year deal.

If we do end up with Spargo and / or Tsatas hopefully they can have a "Darling / Parker" type impact on our club where they are better than our collective expectations and contribute to us being a better team and more wins.

If that happens and we rise a few spots on the ladder then they've served their purpose and hopefully we can attract a better standard of player this time next year.

History says our improvement is incremental untile we make that "leap" Spargo and Tsatas are the type of players we're going to attract.
Parker is a multi-B & F winner and club captain, Darling multi-club leading goalkicker, both of them All-Australians. Both in their 30s and targeted as much for the intangibles (leadership) as for their on-field capabilities.

Spargo and Tsatas probably wouldn't even make our best 23.

Honestly, what's the point? If they won't improve the side, either take those spots to the draft or leave one open for an SSP selection over summer.

Is Spargo damaged goods after breaking (or Dislocating) his shoulder last week? We seem to love investing in damaged goods, so Rawlings is at the printer right now with his hard coded 4 year offer ready to go. He just has to delete “Daniel” and insert “Spargo”. He is a genius.
Was damaged goods before it

Should not be chasing him

Acknowledging this is a very entitled and selfish request since I'm not the one putting his hand up to do the work, but I recall at this time last year there was a stickied post at the top of this thread that was kept updated with links to latest rumours and a summary of who we had been connected to.

Is it possible to get that again this year?

On a look back there was a sticky for the draft order (thread 3) and the free agents list (thread 1), can't see anything like what you are reminiscing about. Maybe giantroo remembers more 9to be fair, it would have been him maintaining it).

Yep reunite the warlord with lij

Tsatas would be a low risk high reward type trade

Warlord , Tsatas and sheez could be our midfield for the next decade

A token late pick or fringe player swap with Bailey Scott

"lij"?

Oh, and I see you've just casually replaced LDU with Tsatas as well!

Heck!

Agreed on Spargo, Tsatas was too throwaway a comment though to be manager driven. If anything, it was just Sam McClure making something in his head pretend to be true.
Listening to the Mcclure thing. You can almost see the smug half grin on the face as he's saying it. He has the most punchable head and I can't even see it because it's a podcast. There should be less AFL journalists

Having endured the last 6 years and seen largely undeserved recruits getting lucrative long term deals without delivering, Charlie Spargo makes absolutely no sense to me.

Given what Clarko's endured in the last 3 years, and as a 4 time premiership coach he'd know what it takes to build a meaningful list, I can only assume it would make even less sense to him.

Have I got news for you!

Incidentally, just before GR's excerpt McClure mentions that Essendon are trying to offload Tsatas. Which makes it sound like it's not us chasing him, it's the Bombers going "who is shit enough to want our offcuts?"

I've already seen what Spargo and Tsatas have to offer and the two of them aren't upgrades on what we already had.

2024 Eddie Ford played 18 games and kicked 15.11...Nearly matched Spargo's best year at 18 goals.

A change of environment isn't going to make Spargo have more goal sense or make him less injury prone.

A change of environment isn't going to make Tsatas improve the worst ball drop in the history of the game.

Fisher/Daniel and co prove that we shouldn't be going after other clubs rejects for the sake of it.
Given the bloke was a top 5 pick, and was widely regarded as such, it's mindboggling.

Its going to be tough for the club to have a trade and free agency period that the supporters approve of. Perhaps the safest approach is to do nothing at all and try and improve on field to put them in a better position to attract players in 2026. The players that might be in reach are deemed not good enough, and the players that supporters want us to go after aren't attainable.

I don’t really want to be reminded that much we are linked with Spargo, coming here with hope every 30 minutes each day and seeing his name every 4 posts is enough.

**** I just watched it because I'm a masochist. Why is a second year parliamentary advisor interviewing an old money investment banker's son, who's decided to eschew any semblance of taste and culture and hang out at Glenroy Station with the other eshays
