Tuesday March 25 - Main training in bye week.

Absent:

Mitchell
HH
Reef
Jamie
Ryan

Rehab:

Cameron
Checkers
A few of the older blokes did some running early on

This morning was more of a fundamental session, as they get some run into their legs before they head off on a 4 day break. They are back on Sunday 9:30am, as we enter round 4.

The session resolved around some skill work and then finished off with some match play.

Jordy seemed to leave the track half way through, but unsure if there was anything wrong, or just management. A few players seemed to be on management load this week.

Checkers seemed fine, but just getting some load in him running wise. Doesn't seem hampered so he'll be right come next week.

Hard to tell too much from this session given those that didn't participate. Frampton was in the ruck as DC was on load management. Had a sore hip since the port game.

Working late tonight Jen

Two sessions this week, but this probably was more the main session, given the next is tuesday, and not sure they would go too hard two days before the game.

Not too much to talk home about. Was pretty chill and normal. At the end of the session they, there was some running sprints from a number of players. First session of the week, and they did have a number of days off. Makes sense.

Was some drills then got into match sim.

Speaking of, looks like Houston got a knock, I couldnt find him when match sim started, then a friend said she saw him heading to his car after training with his nose taped up. Didnt seem happy to be sent home. So broken? Not sure. Guess we'll see how he is on Tuesday.

+ Macrae and Markov are both back in full training and amongst it all, so they both should be available this week, our injury list is quite low.

+ Saw Mitchell doing a light running session (then he would stop and walk) with, maybe a personal trainer, someone from the club? Not sure. Hadnt seen him before.

+ Looks like Frampton would be the one to replace Reef, and appears Checkers is fine. Completed the whole session.

a broken nose won’t keep him out surely!

Hopefully he is fine. Nothing mentioned by journos which is always a good sign.

Saw Coxys parents at training. They are in town for the next 5 weeks.
My report won’t go up until tonight as I’m heading to lunch this afternoon and then vfl training tonight.

But everyone was there except for the injured;
Reef, HH, Johnson, Mitchell

Nice day today a fair few down there today.

Kind of like fun on the oval it seamed and they had vflw players there doing some nice things as first rounds this weekend.

And a few sponsership announcements as well.

Saw Foxtel there and Channel 9 and 7.

Bit of a news day and a couple of pressers.

then was jo public had a kick on the oval.

Nice conditions its same this thursday as well.

Classic weather time of year.

Autum weather feels footy time again.

Member caps in store i got one of the last on the shelve.

They sell heaps.

Also thrusday is the launch of a fans bar at olympic park kind of a pre match place for fans next to the shop.

Training report - Main session - Round 4 v Carlton.

Players absent:

  • Mitchell
  • Reef
  • Johnson
  • HH

So the injured.

Nobody in rehab.
Fin is back in full training and completed the session, so would think he should be able to play VFL this weekend.
Markov as well is back in full training.

It was a pretty short session with some basic drills with match sim at the end. I didn't think it would be too big given the game on thurs.

Black team:

  • Lippa
  • JDG
  • IQ
  • Maynard
  • Elliott
  • Josh D
  • Houston
  • Mcstay
  • Perryman
  • Cameron
  • Sidebottom
  • Hill
  • Membrey
  • Moore
  • Nick D
  • Howe
  • Checkers
  • Long

(18 v 18 so a few seniors will be in white)

White team:

  • Schultz
  • Pendles
  • DeMattia
  • Parker
  • Allan
  • Frampton
  • Macrae
  • TJ
  • Smith
  • Steene
  • Ryan
  • Crisp
  • Cochran
  • West
  • Beau
  • WHE
  • Sullivan
  • Markov
  • Hayes
  • Dean
  • Cox

I think we all assume Frampton for Reef and Checkers for Cox. I doubt there will be any other changes from what I saw and no shocks at who lined up in the black team.

Sidey and Lippa lined up on the wing on the black team. Long in the middle. Along with Nick and Perryman.
Crisp and Demattia also on the wings.
Allan. Fin and Pendles in the middle for the whites.

Fin and Sullivan seem to rotate between mid and forward.

But otherwise there was no shocks in positioning.
Checkers. Mcstay. membrey. Hill. Jordy. Jamie up forward for the black team (Dean. Frampton. Ryan. Parker. TJ. Markov in defence against them)

In defence:
Moore. Maynard. Houston. Josh. IQ. Howe
( Steene. WHE. Schultz. Cox. Hayes. Beau their opponents)
With a few on the bench (West. Sullivan)

Cox spent most of his time down forward, while interchanging with Smit in the ruck. Smit did most of the ruck work, Cox then did a couple in the latter stages of the match play. They had Oscar up forward. Speaking of Oscar -- geez he is really good at ground level. There was this moment when the ball kicked along the ground and he bent down so easily and weaved through players to kick into the forward line.

Jordy looks will spend his time from forward and midfield, whether thats to limit impact on his body, or for match fitness, or just to keep the rotations to give others like Long more opportunity in the middle.

Nick was extrordinary. He generally trains well, but geez he was like Nick on steriods this morning lol Mr energizer bunny for sure. Hopefully he bottles it and brings it on thurs.

Training @ AIA on Monday and Wed 9:30am then they fly to adelaide. Here is the captains run open training next thurs for those in Adelaide.

The Pies will be down at West Adelaide Football Club during Gather Round for an open training session the day before their clash with Sydney on Friday night.

Date: Thursday 10 April
Time: 3:30pm - 5:30pm (ACST)
Location: West Adelaide Football Club

The ground has been marked to appear the same as Adelaide oval View attachment 2276973

Just looked it up:

Adelaide Oval is 167 meters long and 123 meters wide, while the MCG is 160 meters long and 141 meters wide

So 7 mts longer - but 18 mts narrower.

Other grounds are just rubbish!
