St kilda spent 31.2 million on football operations in 2024

We spent 32.2 million

Edit: Pies spent 33.16mil for reference
Soft cap is c. $7.7m this year, was c. $7.2m last year. Might be part of this number but it's not $30m. We also get fined if we don't spend to the soft cap "floor", though it's unclear what the floor is and nobody has been fined for it before apparently.

We will be spending most, if not all of the soft cap. It increases by another $750k over the next 2 years + 20% of senior coach wage out of the cap from next year (so c. $200-300k more soft cap per year). We'll get c. $400k extra per year from the new Marvel deal. Presumably AFL distributions / the Bunbury deal will give us enough income to pay our the new amounts.

Football operations would include soft cap, salary cap and other related costs.

It’s almost as if a small club wanting to stay out of debt has to spend less.

Crazy!

Well glad that mystery is solved.
So thats it then? If we cant keep up with the rest of the comp, then whats the point? Significant disadvantage equals where we are at right now. St Kilda are 10 million in debt, who cares about debt.

Show me a typical person who isn’t debted to their eye balls. Only you boomers who paid $8 for a house and $4 for a car have this misconception about debt. Who gives a **** about debt, just get it done.

Agree that debt isn't the same for organisations as individuals.

There's a systematic issue in that since 1999 only either expansion clubs or wealthy Victorian clubs have won the premiership. You could possibly exempt Melbourne from that group..

Footscray won a flag and St Kilda made multiple GFs.

I missed the dogs in my list. St Kilda still lost both those GFs to wealthy teams. I'm not saying success isn't possible, but there's seems to be a wealth barrier to a premiership.

It's hard, but it is possible. You just about every decision you make to go right. We seem to be the opposite at the moment.

St Kilda were a bees dick from 2 flags. A bounce and a toe poke doesn't really come down to wealth.

Powell started match sim in pink. Switched to blue half way.

Simpkin trained but left track before match sim started.

The session started sloppy, but after a spray from Corr, then a team regroup, intensity increased.

There were at least 3 VFL players out there. One solidly built kid with long hair has been there the last few weeks. Can’t recall his name, but I’ve seen him in Maddie’s snaps.

Righto Madd's, some history ?
Hoju, It's Choose Your Own Adventure and/or Height Time.

A.
Oscar is a Dutch journalist living in Curacao (the bastard. How nice would that be?):

B. 20 year old Oscar is a 188cm or 189cm mid from North Launceston, Tasmania who moved to Victoria this year to play for North. He's been playing for Leigh Adams' old club South Croydon and was named in the EFNL rep team.

There is no way we could potentially have a Van Dam on the rookie list? Just when you feel like you can let go they suck you back in!!

OVD worth a rookie selection? Would not hurt us at this point, given we are heading into 2025 draft armed with no rd 1 picks at all. Suspect Clarko and Co. would have seen some VFL games to see what the potential is with OVD.
