I think we got out of Treloar what we wanted. Limiting his minutes in the second half was smart.

to an extent his injury stuff is luck. You could have played him a higher TOG (to replicate the minutes he’d get at afl level) and see if he got through it - but he could have, and still might get injured at any point after anyway. Injuries are always going to be a concern with him.

I think what we really wanted to see was his confidence and if he was going to play 100% or what we saw previously, which was a guy afraid of getting hurt again and going maybe 70%, and was a liability.

He certainly passed that test and must play next week against Freo.

I only caught the last quarter of the game. Soooo good seeing Treloar out there ripping 'em apart. Fantastic win. I'd feel a bit sorry for Carlton, but eff 'em.

Looks like we will be minor premiers which is good. Has Footscray ever won a VFL minor premiership?

Fun stats.

1st Minor Premiership for Footscray in the VFL
9th finals series for Footscray since 2014.
5th top four finish in that period.

EDIT: Box Hill have lost enough percentage that we would have only needed low double digits to win the minor premiership

Let's hope Hawthorn chokes in the AFL this finals series too

So in 2021, were we officially recognised as premiers as there was no finals? Ie- does the minor premiership count towards our clubs actual premierships ?

Weird question but an interesting one

It's more we were clearly the best team in the league and were sitting on top of the ladder undefeated.

Thank God for AI..

Footscray has had a strong recent run in the VFL, including a 115-point win over Carlton in the final round, securing the minor premiership, according to the Western Bulldogs official website. They also defeated Box Hill Hawks, Richmond, and North Melbourne. Their recent form includes an 11-game winning streak, according to the Footscray Bulldogs' X account.

Crazy that he is still only 19.
Albeit VFL vs AFL

Xerri vs Smith this year

Disposals 16.8 vs 14.1
Marks 1.6 vs 2.1
Tackles 6.3 vs 4.6
Hit Outs 34.9 vs 33.9
Clearances 6.9 vs 4.6

Perfect player to model his game off and aspire to get to the level of and he is already making great strides towards it

After a pretty horrid preseason, our AFL and VFL teams understandably started modestly, at 4-5 (AFL 2-3, VFL 2-2).

After that start, we have gone 21-6 (AFL 10-5, VFL 11-1), both at a 130+%.

We have our frustrations with close losses, but that is an impressive effort.
Two weeks after posting this, our AFL/VFL teams are now 25-6 after our indifferent start (AFL 12-5, VFL 13-1), and both now 140+%.

Remarkable really.

Remarkable really.
What is just as remarkable is that 2 and 3 start which has put us in the position we are in was without Bont and Trealor our 2 AA's from last season

Smith will go close to being named in the VFL team of the year in the ruck,

Been fantastic all year
One of the top contenders no doubt but it's hard to see how Ned Moyle or Crossley don't get the starting ruck position. One of them will likely be on the bench. They're easily the two standouts.

Really liked Lachie Smith's game yesterday.

Looking forward to seeing how he goes at AFL level, when he gets the chance
As much as I like him, I can’t see him ever playing AFL unless English gets injured. Jordan Sweet 2.0, when our ruck depth is too good to only be depth.
