Makes sense. If Gallop & Smith are our two depth forward/ruck options, the club would want them focusing on improving the forward/ruck aspect they're not good at - Gallop: Ruck + Smith: Forward.

I'm just glad it's in the 2s and not in the seniors team this time

*At this stage Fort appears to have been assigned as a Ruck replacement for BigO and a break glass type situation for a forward/ruck role.

*Smith could be underdone because of an interapted pre-season and maybe is being eased into match fitness. Minimal ruck to get shoulders in battle hardened state.

*Gallop fast track development into a bona fide forward/ruck, therefore in this game appears to be given maximum opportunities in the role.
