Smith is making good position but can’t hold his marks. Dropped 3 that quarter and another contested one that he might have taken. Hope he can turn it around in the 2nd half.

A decent run in the ruck for Gallop in that quarter. He doesn't lack the physicality for it and can get his hand to the ball but may get troubled by the more athletic rucks getting around. He applies good pressure around the disputed ball.

Smith was pushed out of the way in every ruck contest that quarter Is he injured?
Dropped an easy mark as well.

Relatedly, my main issue with Smith is that someone of his size should be imposing himself on the contest a bit more. Part of that is sticking the marks he gets two hands to, but it's also crashing the packs and ensuring the defenders are looking around for him

Is it a self-confidence thing? He looked overawed and out of his depth during his recent senior appearances to me

Not great conditions for footy here by the way, feels like temp is 33°C and 55% humidity, no breeze, would be sapping. Also very early season so the skills reflect that to an extent
