Remember moseying on down to Cramer Street (which wasn’t far as I lived in Cramer Street) not long before I moved to Queensland and saw Luke Hodge’s first game for Box Hill.

Caught up with a few of the BigFooty Hawks (two of whom went on to become AFL list managers. NB: not everyone who meets me at the footy ends up an AFL list manager, sorry briztoon ) for a chinwag and a bit of kick to kick after the game.

Hodgey kicked a beautiful goal to the Preston Market end in the last quarter.

Have you seen much of him briz, how would you compare him to the likes of Daniel Annable and Matthew Owen, more/less potential? What style of mid is he?

I’ve only seen him play half back. Hard at it. Was the first bottom ager to play for our VFL team a couple of weeks ago, and everyone on here raved about him.

For what it's worth, Haggas has him his top 10 for next years draft crop.

Haggas must like the academy boys, I noticed he has Daniel Annabel at 2 this year, that is a phantom draft though so not sure that is where he has Annabel personally rated.

I believe it’s more where he rates them, than an actual phantom draft.

There’s a wide variance on where different draft watchers rate kids this year.

You have some well known watchers questioning Sharp’s lack of positional flexibility this year and downgrading him on that, while at the same time rating Duursma highly because of positional flexibility, but not able to say where his best position may be.

I do think I may have talked Murray up a bit, and that might have influenced his ranking.

It will be interesting to see how many Lions U17’s are selected in this years grand final day game. Hodge is a cert just on his name.
