Smith looks like he can ruck at least and is mobile for his size. Plus he improves a lot for the hitout. Looks very promising considering his prep.for those able to watch, does smith look ready?
Day strikes me as the sort of player who will not do any better in 2s compared to 1s
Why does kiddy seem so far off it? fitness? confidence?
Smith looked like he spent a lot of time in the gym while off with the foot injury. Could be a turning point for him.Smith looks like he can ruck at least and is mobile for his size. Plus he improves a lot for the hitout. Looks very promising considering his prep.
Kiddy looked nowhere near it but maybe he just wanted to get through a game.

*without (of course)He looks a mile off but gee it would be good to get him back this year. His best is phenomenal but his kicking today was pretty poor by his standards.
Stats indicate Prindable did OK.
Can get his hands on the ball and hits the ball at pace at the stoppages which is a good sign. Another one on the production line. Looking forward to see if he can go on with it.Stats indicate Prindable did OK.
He won't get seasoned playing VFL.I know it's a VFL game and there are many other factors at play but on what we saw today I'd prefer Smith over Day.
Whether Smith is presently seasoned enough for a 4 quarter AFL game is the issue.
Great point, I still have confidence he can turn it around in the next month and be a weapon for us in the seniors for finals.Maybe Coleman's feeling a bit flat. Been a difficult year for him
Yep.Is the VFL game next week at the Suns training oval?

I’d give Smith one more week.. but he was probably the most desperate player on the field from what I saw. Played with sustained intensity.for those able to watch, does smith look ready?

Coleman played a lot of VFL/NEAFL footy before he got his opportunity in the seniors. The VFL team and competition now is a significantly better competition to play footy in now that when it was NEAFL.Not everyone is a world beater at VFL level, not to mention Coleman has spent basically his whole career playing AFL level games. VFL is a lot different and players like Morris struggled in the VFL as well because it lacks structure and a lot of people play for themselves. This is why you will see a lot of players in the past rack up almost 40 possessions in the VFL, but struggle to replicate it in an AFL game. Coleman is facing poor injuries and coming into a system that is completely different from the AFL system. So he is having to get used to a lot of things at once.
This is revisionist history, Coleman has played a lot of reserves matches, especially when he was 19. And Morris didn't struggle there at all, he kicked 16 goals in 8 games. Not everyone is a world beater at VFL level, not to mention Coleman has spent basically his whole career playing AFL level games. Morris himself said on the podcast that he did struggle more in VFL than AFL, and that it was easier to jump into an AFL game because everyone was playing for each other. Maybe he found it relatively easier at AFL level, but 16 goals in 8 games isn't struggling by any means.Morris himself said on the podcast that he did struggle more in VFL than AFL, and that it was easier to jump into an AFL game because everyone was playing for each other.
