While I don't disagree that a lot more list turn over is needed, the situation is a bit more complicated than saying those 12 players are crap and need to go.

For example: Dewar, Gross and Davis are all rated as below average but this is mainly due to their age and also having been the subs in games.

That is one of the highest rated action any player can do.

The highest rated action is bumping Ginnivan into Watson, knocking both of them out.

Just out of interest here are the ten top rated Eagles so far.

One positive out of the season so far is the form of our youth. 5 out of the top 10 are 23 years or younger.

At the end of last year that number was only 2 (H. Reid and Ginbey)

• Baker is rated above average again. He seems to be finding his role in the team.
• Our three highest rated midfielders are Hall, Hewett and H. Reid (Graham is categorised as a Mid-Fwd, don't know why, he would be rated higher than Hewett if he was a midfielder)
• I would be really interested to see what Harley's rating would be if he didn't get so many frees against.

• Last week I made an error with H. Reid, he should have been average not above average.
• You can see a few players improving since the lows of rounds 4 and 5. The following players have gotten out of the 'below average' rating: Hewett, Brockman, Allen
• Ginbey's rating has fallen over the past few weeks, I think a lack of strong key defenders over that period has impacted his rating
• Having a string of good games Cripps is rated 'above average' again. Last year he ended up as the 19th highest rated general forward, at the moment he is the 38th.
• Waterman's rating has plummeted. Mainly due to his recent inaccuracy I would say.

• Ryan, Baker and Cripps's run of good games shows in this table. Ryan is now the 13th highest rated gen. fwd, Cripps is the 28th highest, and Baker is the 25th highest rated Gen. Defender
• Harley is slowly improving his rating as well (after being re-categorised as a mid, not gen def). He is currently the 55th highest rated midfielder. If he can move down 7 or 8 places he will be rated 'above average'

Few weeks on but I imagine flynn's ratings have remained steady?

Been really impressed with his efforts around the ground - he has this ability to stand up in a contest/tackle and keep his long-ass arms clear & unpinned to handball to advantage.

Yeah pretty steady. He was the third highest rated Eagle in round 10.

He would move back to 'above average' if he could drop down from 14th to 12th.

• We are back to having no elite players, damn you McGovern!
• Ryan's rating is see-sawing dramatically. 4th in rd 4, 30th in rd 6, 13th rd 10, and now 29th.
• Baker is having an excellent year. He is currently the 22nd highest rated gen. defender. He probably won't make it to elite ranking by the end of the year (would need to be 13th or 14th)
• Brockman's improvement has been dramatic. he has gone from below average to above average in just 5 matches (I think he only played in 4 games as well)

• Remarkably, McCarthy starts as the 20th highest rated player in the entire competition. However, since he is categorised as a midfielder for some reason, he is not rated as elite. If he was categorised as a general defender he would be the 2nd highest rated general defender, so definitely elite.
• Baker maintains his elite status, and moves into the top 10 for general defenders.

• Not ready to remove Gov or Sheed from the list
• Shanahan is the 5th highest rated Key Fwd and the highest rated player of his year. Expect a dramatic drop as he plays more games (and is given more attention from oppo Defenders) but still it goes to show what great potential he has.
• After 3 games McCarthy is still rated elite, he is currently the 4th highest rated Gen Defender
• Speaking of McCarthy, it will be interesting to see what impact having McCarthy in the side will have on Maric's rating. It may put less pressure on him to hit the difficult kicks into the corridor, leading to less direct turnovers, or it may inspire him to do it more, not sure.

Notes:

• I missed round 18.
• I keep forgetting that Brockman is relatively young (23 by the end of the year). With that in mind I think he is going okay this year, definitely an improvement over last year (he is now rated 'above average' whereas last year he was 'below average'
• Similarly Maric is only 21 by the end of the year and it is his first year in the defender role so is doing pretty well.
• It looks like in years to come our Midfield will be Reid, Hewett, Hall and Hough. They are all above average for their year groups and are doing remarkably well considering there has been extremely low senior midfield support.
• I am hopeful any of Gross, Allan or Davis may join that group but I figure it is too early to tell.
• I think most Eagles supporters would say that Hutchinson has been performing much better over the past month or so but that has not been reflected in the ratings.
• McCarthy has dropped off a bit in the past couple of weeks but impressively he is still rated 'elite' after 5 games.
• Both of our rucks are rated as below average

• Chesser is currently our highest rated midfielder at 44th. Considerably higher than our next best, Harley at 73rd. Let's see if he can maintain that for the last few games
• McCarthy is still rated as Elite. God, what a steal!
• Our players turning 21 this year seems to be a great crop. We've got Ginbey (11th highest of his age), Hewett (12th), Maric (15th), Dewar (27th) and Long (42nd)
• Speaking of Long, I hope he can have a strong pre-season and come out firing early next season. He was tracking beautifully in his first couple of seasons.
