Is it time to start worrying about Sid Draper becoming the next generation Midfielder we thought he was going to be? I fear yet again we have been lured by extreme pace.

He's maybe only had half his time in the mid, has been serviceable when in there, lot of scrappy play, not really a game for him to show his wares, not really worried at this point

Their key backs and ruckmen ducking and weaving amongst our mids shows our lack of confidence and how high theirs is

I came on here to ask about him.

What was the knock on him in his draft year?

Not quick and some questioned his general athleticism but he has footy smarts which can overcome some of that.

Not even taking the body. God damn this is a low standard performance from us.

Got better the longer the games gone on, he'll be a good player no need to worry, just needs a clear run ay it.

Im hoping. His game worried me a bit last year when he did play at AFL. Did not look like the quality mid youd expect from a 4th pick. However, Im aware he was played out of position a bit and not given enough time. Classic Nicks. He did the same with Curtin and Curtin came back stronger the more he eventually played. So hopefully its the same with Sid.

is with team and player development?

He basically gave up on the rebuild one year into it before doing whatever he can to get pointless wins on the board instead of developing players into long term players.

His desire to play mature bodies over young development draftees to secure wins is why we continue to players stuck in the SANFL side.

Dowling, Draper, Edwards and Ryan should have been given AFL games by now.

Don't forget Draper also had one of the most decorated junior careers and his U17 year was phenomenal - SANFL form, U18 All-Australian, U18 SA MVP as a bottom-ager, BOG in SANFL U18 GF as well.

Just had a bad run of injuries since then and obviously a very interrupted pre-season

Get him some continuity and he'll be fine.
