Those are the three lads for the 2026 draft for the Dogs, curious to see no mention of either Riley. I saw R. Dickson playing about a year ago at school level, kicking a bag of 7, moving alot like his old man, even got to chat to him and asked if he was keen to follow on in his footsteps, got a resounding ''yes''.
Wonder if his switched sports.

He is playing SANFL u16's as an underager so good signs.

Last year, Dyson Sharp was mentioned as the No. 1 male for 2025.
We don't appear to have someone stamping his prospects as loudly as Sharp this time around.

Imagine the uproar from Victoria if Cooper Hodge turns out to be a top prospect and he decides to go with the Lions over the Hawks.
No different to Nick Blakey choosing the Swans over North (and Brisbane). John Blakey won multiple premierships for the Roos like Hodgey with Hawthorn but the Blakey connection with the Swans was strong at the time. I get the feeling the Hodge family currently has a similarly strong connection to Brisbane and I wouldn't be surprised to see Cooper choose the Lions.
On the topic of another father-son prospect, is Tevita Rodan in this draft class or 2027? Seems like Port Adelaide are about to have a very nice run of father-sons coming through. Although, correct me if I'm wrong, wouldn't Tevita Rodan also be NGA eligible for one of the Melbourne clubs (Essendon?) because David was born in Fiji? Seems to defeat the purpose of the NGA if the only reason you're eligible is your 185 AFL game father but anyway...
Yep, it's pretty well known up here that the Hodge family love life in Brisbane and aren't going anywhere anytime soon, IIRC Luke said in an interview a while ago that Cooper is a huge Lions fan.

Yeah and I understand Hawthorn supporter's frustration about potentially losing the opportunity to draft a talented youngster that has a family tie to their club but let's not forget that Hodge also played 40+ games for Brisbane and has worked for the club in an assistant coaching role so it's not as if the Hodge family has zero connection to the Lions. If this situation played out in the early 90s when the F/S rules stated a player only needed to play 20 games for a club in order for their son to be F/S eligible then no one would bat an eye at Cooper choosing Brisbane. Essentially what I'm saying is Cooper Hodge is a father-son for Brisbane because Luke played for the Lions, it's just that he doesn't reach the current eligibility criteria. IMO it's on Hawthorn to try and convince Cooper to want to go there anyway. You can't just assume because a player is father-son eligible that they want to join your club. Marc Murphy is an example of that.

I don't see any problems with growing the game in non-traditional areas and I'm from WA. The game needs to grow. It's not the VFL anymore. In fact I would be perfectly happy if the AFL invested in a world team at 18's level. And I don't mean Australian players with international heritage.....I mean finding all the best 18's players from the many AFL leagues around the world and forming one team. It's a bigger pool than you might imagine.
There are more players overseas than you think. In fact I can remember when Swan Districts (WAFL) flew over some kids from the Joburg league in South Africa to play colts and they didn't look out of place. PNG have been playing Aussie rules for a few decades and even played in a (teal Cup) now 18's national comp.
It's time to get the wheels moving and if that 20th team ever comes into being, I hope it's overseas based.

I think a 14 hour flight from Melb to LA is do-able for a game once per season...yeah? Not so easy for the LA based players traveling 10 times per season but the sun, the beach, the girls, the food and the lifestyle would be a fair trade off.
