Going back to round 1 to have a look at a rebounding defender from North Adelaide that's been generating some hype. Sam Tassone has that bouncy running stride that lets him change direction to dodge tackles, and a turn of pace to burn off his opponent. His kicking skills are solid and he makes assertive, attacking decisions with the ball. In this game he found a stack of the footy as his team's main playmaker off the half back line.

Bit of a hidden gem…would be a good fit for us given Ryan isn’t coming on.

MSD maybe?
Birthdate Feb 2008.

He's this year's National draft

Josh Fahey is the player for us in the MSD if we are after a metres gained bazooka booted running medium defender.

Flakey player, needs the game on his own terms. No doubt he’s got weapons though.
Disagree on that, and he is a list need currently aside from the midfield if we're looking at filling the list spot. Ryan not coming on and Hinge injury prone and susceptible to brain farts I see an opening.

On the rise..😉🎯

11 - Ethan Drever (GWV Rebels, utility)
A powerful, bullocking inside midfielder who runs a 2.90 20-metre sprint is compelling for all clubs. He was hyped throughout pre-season as a potential riser and has delivered in spades. A prolific ball-winner, Drever has carried significant responsibility in the GWV midfield and shown an ability to power out the front of clearances and find space and buy time in congestion. The comparison which keeps coming up is GWS' Finn Callaghan who bolted significantly in his draft year and Drever is following a similar trajectory. Has great aerobic power and traits transferrable across the field.

Wouldnt mind a Callaghan.

Not sure about the Callaghan comparison, perhaps not the absolute express outside pace of Callaghan, although Ethan does have good pace IMO he has a better inside game at the same point of their draft year. He's absolutely carrying the Rebels team on his back this year as Captain with not a lot of support in the midfield around him. Rebels have a competitive ruckman in Jackson O'Brien but the only other player that looks to have draft prospects is small/medium forward Archie Elliott who hits the scoreboard regularly despite a lack of genuine opportunities.

Mutineer - thoughts on Oskar Ainsworth for MSD?
Was wondering where he had got to after trying out with the Saints for a SSP shot. Couldn't find him in the VFL, seems he has gone back to his junior VAFA team Williamstown CYMS and played the last two weeks for the Seniors at that level. I note he is on St Kilda's VFL roster but looks like his VAFA form hasn't seen him required up to now.

Showed quite a bit late in the season at the Western Jets more so as a medium forward than a mid but was considered unlucky not to at least get a rookie shot. He'd be worth a look as mids that have the versatility to hit the scoreboard have value. Powerful athlete but the knock was his kicking efficiency and decision making IIRC so they were/are his work ons obviously.

Should have been there long ago. He will suit the modern game.

You're preaching to the converted here, I've been all in on Ethan Drever for 2 years. 😉

Have you heard how Archie Van Dyk is travelling re his back issue?
