2026 Attendances

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

It will be high 30s, maybe touching 40k. 25-30k Dogs fans, 7-12k Essendon Fans.

Essendon fans are normally good value in attending away Docklands games, and I've been to some games where despite it being their away game there's clearly over 20k of them in the ground. I don't think that will be the case here.
I think if Essendon was a decent team for sure. In 2024 these two clubs drew 50,144 so if it’s a game of interest it certainly draws well. This game isn’t going to be a contest it’s reasonable to say. I wish we could forfeit the game and go to next week! 😃.

Plus, the 4 day weekend naturally means attendance is supressed.

We're just hanging our hat on a good Dogs attendance here. Even with easter attendance suppression, it's standard for the Dogs to expect 25k attendees to their homegames as a baseline expectation these days, before factoring in opposition. In the McCartney days of winning 20 games over 3 seasons, it was more like 15k. It probably would have been like that in the 2nd half of 2018 as well as that was the worst the Dogs have played for an extended period in the Bevo era, though the Dogs didn't have a home game against an non-Vic opponent in Docklands after R8 that season strangely to be able to figure if that is actually true.

Possibly. Looking at it with some science though. Vibe aside.

Dogs drew ~28,000 against Giants round one. Better contest, round one excitement, daytime slot etc. Reasonable to assume for a dead rubber the Dogs bring around 22-23k of their fans this week?

Bombers fans can’t be expected to go in large numbers. Let’s say they bring 12-13k to an away flogging.

Thats a crowd of around 35-36k which feels there or thereabouts for this one.
I think the Dogs' fans will do better than that as it's not a dead rubber for us and it's only our second home game of the year after a great start to the season.

There's not a lot of data on the ES Night timeslot but it's a public holiday the next day and it gives people plenty of time for family lunches and church beforehand.

Only standing room available for today at Docklands.

This and 2023 stand out as games where a better contest was/is expected.

Here's hoping for anything near 49k, thoughts?

This plus 68,000 for Carlton v Melbourne and PAX for Monday being 82,000 (limited standing room left) makes a mockery of claims that crowds are soft. Good chance today draws 50,000 and Monday draws 88,000 or more.

The fully ticketed gams were soft because those two games shouldn’t have been fully ticketed.

North/Blues 45,919 at Marvel.

Very good crowd.

Is capacity 50K for footy? Can it really fit in 53K?

Really you’d hope it say around 49-50K annually.

I really think there was a good case to keep North and Dogs.

Those North member bays looked full and heaving which seems a good decade since we have seen that.

Highest ever Marvel crowd is 54K.

It's recorded over 50K on 20 occasions since its opening in 2000.

Outside of Collingwood who else do you think would help North boost up the crowd numbers?

We seem to bring decent numbers for them no matter how turd we are.

We are 0-3 lol and no Nate Caddy either (whom has been our best forward!)... This will be a poor turn out. I hope I am wrong but we will need a big Bulldog presence to get this over 30,000!
We turn up v the Bombers guaranteed 30K.

There was a dog of a game in 2022 or some time that got 33ish k, that is probably the lowest we will see.

I don’t think it’s about boosting numbers - providing the game stays at Marvel. It’s about ensuring it’s as close to capacity as possible

Simply by having it at the G - there would have been 60K there today, but I think there is something special about it being at Marvel.

That said for it to genuinely work, North h need to find a partner and it needs to alternate home fixtures.

It has to stay under the lid. Third year in a row that it has drawn 45,000 plus and it is perfectly placed with the Good Friday appeal. Eventually it will rotate like Kings Birthday.
