Yes, I know. I'm talking about matches that are fully ticketed. No they would just get a GA ticket if the game isn’t fully Ticketed.

What % of the 16k were Hawthorn supporters?Partly by the people I spoke to at the ground. Partly by observing the number of family groups that had a mix of Hawks and Giants supporters (there were a few).
Partly observing which platform they went to when they caught a connecting train a Lidcombe, and then of those going to Central, how many got off at Strathfield.
Most Vic Hawthorn supporters would presumably stay in the Sydney CBD, or catch a connecting plane to Melbourne after the game. Which means Central.
A Hawks supporter who caught the train out west, or who got off at Strathfield for s connecting train towards Hornsby, Newcastle, or the Central Coast, is presumably a local.
At Lidcombe, it was a roughly even split as to which platform Hawks supporters were coming from or going to.
It's purely anecdotal, of course.
And more NSW Hawks is /good/ for GWS. That's someone who already follows footy who you might persuade to start going to Giants games as a second club![]()

If you count finals can add Freo and GWS to the list.By my count that’s 10 different clubs Collingwood have got over 78k against within the last 3 years.
All the Vic clubs bar North plus Sydney and Brisbane.
Not the majority, but a decent percentage of the crowd. I'd estimate it would have been roughly 10–20% of the crowd. What % of the 16k were Hawthorn supporters?
Sorry misread. Up to the home club to set the prices, level 4 should be way cheaper than it currently is and would probably fix this issue if it was.Yes, I know. I'm talking about matches that are fully ticketed.
Scott’s might include finals?

It’s time to get back to 9 games isn’t it?

Would be interested to see Melbourne, Richmond and Hawthorn's biggest home crowd in the AFL era.Biggest home crowd for each Victorian club:
- Melbourne = 1958 vs Collingwood (99,256)
- Collingwood = 2023 vs Essendon (95,179)
- Essendon = 2024 vs Collingwood (93,644)
- Hawthorn = 1981 vs Collingwood (92,935)
- Richmond = 1977 vs Collingwood (92,436)
- Carlton = 2000 vs Essendon (91,571)
- Geelong = 2025 vs Hawthorn (88,746)
- St Kilda = 2026 vs Collingwood (82,528)
- Western Bulldogs = 2025 vs Collingwood (78,027)
- North Melbourne = 1994 vs Collingwood (72,216)

Melbourne - 83,985 v Rich ANZAC Eve 2023I hope cricket stands their ground next year and doesn't allow the G to be used before the 150th anniversary test.
Even though my team benefits from it, I hate round 0 as a concept. Should be all teams involved and just be called round 1.
Also finals should be 8 teams not 10 while we have an 18 team comp.
Would be interested to see Melbourne, Richmond and Hawthorn's biggest home crowd in the AFL era.
Well If the pies can have a bit of a sook to the AFL about being away two years in a row and then get a home game at the G, then why can’t there be a Perth or Adelaide game?
You can still have all Northern States have a home game before filling the rest
But if they do that start it the week after this years opening round and call it round one.
Agreed, appreciate that the stadiums were unavailable this year and the mcg is out of action next year but you could have done something like this and call it round 1. Crowds would all just about sell out too and the northern states have the prime time slotsRound 0 is dreadful
The afl is not ever going up gather round or a top 10. Dreaming.I'm hoping with the fact that the 150th anniversary test is a day/nighter and the fact that channel 7 has the rights to both AFL and cricket that the AFL season starts the weekend after.
This would then bring the double benefit of no round 0 and either the AFL having to get rid of gather round or revert finals to 8 teams.
Which completely defeats the purpose of giving the weekend to only the Northern states.Agreed, appreciate that the stadiums were unavailable this year and the mcg is out of action next year but you could have done something like this and call it round 1. Crowds would all just about sell out too and the northern states have the prime time slots
Thursday: Sydney v Carlton
Friday: Gold Coast V Geelong
Saturday early: West Coast v North
Saturday Twilight: Adelaide v Essendon
Saturday Night: GWS v Hawthorn
Sunday Early: Port Adelaide v Melbourne
Sunday Twilight: Fremantle v Richmond
Sunday Night: Brisbane v Bulldogs
Monday PH: St Kilda v Collingwood
And by the time the seaon starts NRL would have had a month head start, and the Giants home ground would be unavailable because of the Sydney Show. The David King suggestion from a month ago on SEN where he would rather the season start a couple of weeks later and finish on the second Saturday of October would make sense. A Thursday 18th March 2027 start time instead.
