Ballarat - Eureka/Mars Stadium will be built to what was originally proposed to be its "post Games legacy configuration" (16-18,000 capacity with 10-11,000 seats). The Premier and Deputy Premier both said this morning that the stadium will still have a new 5000 seat stand built. It will likely also get the broadcast quality lighting upgrade that it desperately needs. No word on a train platform though. The stadium at least won't be taken out of action for up to 2 years while a temporary athletics track and stands are built and subsequently dismantled and oval rebuilt. The new athletics track is still going to be built at the old Showgrounds. The Ballarat Sports Events Centre will get some upgrades and the 60km cross country bmx track at Creswick will be upgraded. Ballarat's main train station to still get its $50 million all-abilities pedestrian upgrade. The north western outer suburb of Miners Rest still to get a new oval and club rooms. So what will the eureka stadium legacy build look like compared to what it otherwise would have pre Vic comm games annoucement?
Also does gmhba stadium get anything
Geelong - GMHBA Stadium had no further upgrades planned beyond is current upgrade presently underway, although Stead Park hockey centre will be modenised and upgraded. A new single Olympic sized pool will be built at Waurn Ponds as well as a new indoor sports centre. These will simply be built as they were planned for in their post games legacy mode.
Bendigo - Will still get a new exhibition centre at its Showgrounds, upgrades to the bowling club and four new courts at its basketball stadium. Again, no information on a new train platform for its showgrounds.
Latrobe Valley - The Ted Sommerton Reserve in Moe will still be modernised and upgraded for soccer and rugby and the indoor sports centre in Traralgon expanded.
Shepparton - To have its BMX short course upgaded as planned.
Across regional Victoria - 1300 social houses to be built in various locations across the state instead of the original 850 that were only originally to be built at the four proposed village sites. The government to launch a major tourism campaign for regional Victoria.
Of course at this stage there are no time lines for these works. The Premier said that the details would be announced over the next few weeks.
That was pretty much everything that I picked up from the news conference.
