Position 2026 Defenders

98 was top 12 last year for defenders, that's perfectly fine.

The whole "you need top 6-8 on every line" is a gimmick.

ANYWAY each to their own. I started him because of what I saw in preseason and round 0.
Great starting pick, not worthy of being the most traded in player this week though. Trading in D6 types this early is a recipe for disaster.

Last year Noble on 98 was 14th best, but no one that low is in the top teams in reality.

If Houston repeats 2024, a great result. If he repeats last year, not so much.

Depends on your team structure.

If going Rozee down to Houston means you can go Trac up to Xerri then it’s win.

Sometimes it’s just about team balance.

Houston or Stewart?

I’m going Stewart.

Collingwood have been pretty bare down back first few rounds. To protect this, they have been building the ball up to set the ground up. Last thing you want to do is get into a shoot out and expose undersized backs and isolate them.

Collingwood marks this year.
145 marks OR
117 marks round 1.

Last year they averaged around 90 I believe.

I haven’t dug deep enough to know if this is a trend across AFL this year due to rules etc.

I want to see how Houston goes with Moore and Howe back first.

Think I’d feel safer with Sic than Stewart. I’m backing in Worrell though… until he’s a late out tonight.

it would make sense for pies to go a mark heavy style with the amount of good ball users they have tbf, in saying that theres currently 6 teams over 100 marks avg, last season there was only 1.

In a year where players are getting injured left, right and centre, I'm avoiding 30+ year olds. I know it's not just old players getting injured, but the chance with them is higher. I started 2 30-year-olds in my side and one has already been traded out due to injury.

Even if Stew doesn't get injured, he will 10000% get rested.

Also going Stewart, for a few reasons that make him stand out more then "we want to get the ball in Houstons hands" as a reason

Is the fact that he's 33, coming off his worst season in a decade and always misses games the reasons?

Only reason I want Houston is that he won me so many finals like 2 to 3 years ago banging out 150 scores. Plus the 150k leaves me the optiom to get Bont next week. Also knowing he cam avg 100+ is a positive. Maybe he didnt really adjust to the collingwood system in his first year.

I thoroughly recommend not picking up Houston

He is no good at all.

Have not forgiven him for leaving Port.

Checks notes and sees that I have had him in my team since the start of the year.

Don't do it to yourself, far better options out there.

Pretty keen to stiffen up defence sooner rather than later, it's the line I have the least confidence in rookies being consistent. Happy to run Jagga & Bruhn in the mids, plus Marshall and Dev in the fwds for a while yet but keen to get a Gryl and Serong off the field asap and just run Jaques.

Hence looking to bring in 3 x premos to defence in the next 3 weeks. Will bring in Ash this week for Rozee, then injuries permitting a Rd 3 bye defender next week for the Font (Mills / Sic etc), then will eye off a cheap Whit or Nas post bye if things play out OK. Have got a war chest to make it happen, but obvs injuries or other issues could get in the way.

I def see an edge in clearing out these rooks first if possible, plus it's the line where the premos have / will drop the most early.

100% agreed, got some big scorers in the backline as well as a few pods, defs a line to prioritise early imo

Is it really just the promise of the role half back distributor?
We've seen a change, but fools gold?
I want to be cheap and get Houston, but leaning towards going Jaicos to save the trade later. Just not convinced H can edge out Jaicos.
Thoughts??

On history, both at their best, Houston comfortably. Question is, will Collingwood revolve their D around Hosuton the way Port did?

I Collingwood already have!

Anyone believe in Jayden Short and think this year could be different?

Kinda curious
