And Carlton, and the media, will still paint Carlton has a victim in all this.

I don't trust the AFL.

They have Carlton, Essendon, Port and all the media campaigning to them. We know how this goes.

Pretty much or we back ourselves mid draft with the picks. I mean this years one looks barely a downgrade (we own Carl’s second rounder in exchange for our first rounder).

We have options and it may or may not be academy

Its the biggest nothing piece, not going to happen and pretty sure Swann has already come out and said that the proposal will go through. Its just media needing a story because they need a job

The Commission ultimately approves the changes. The new Chair Drummond is the one saying they may pause and reevaluate.

I can see them compromising and phasing the changes, like they did for the 2024/2025 drafts The easier decisions will come in for this year (ie. discounts all gone, cannot gather extra picks during the draft, etc.), and then the full 2-pick limit and Top 4 finish loadings changes will come in in 2028 after the 1st Tasmanian draft is done (the 2nd one in 2028 isn't that compromised).

Perhaps it's all hot air, but given more than 2 journos have raised it means there's something behind it.

Fair dinkum that would be beyond ridiculous, so just continue the horrific underpaying for top talents? How about no. How about teams and I mean all of them here, pay what is deemed to be 'market value'. Do what you want then clubs complain in 2028 and we are back to square 1. It's a complete farcial circle, just put them in and in a year where the two clubs affected will have zero issues in matching. The two pick rule will be FAIR! If you want an elite talent especially when said team has played and won grand finals, you can pay the full price.

Can Damien Barrett even be called a credible source these days. The part i'm getting at is that they say watered down but don't actually say which element they are watering down and therefore I think it is just a push story to make some news. Especially after Damien Barrett is rightfully getting backlash for saying that the Showdown should be moved to the MCG. I could simply see it as him trying to deflect the major story of the week off of him and onto the AFL

Think he will be looking at 800-900k from Sydney and someone will potentially touch 1m to drag him out of Sydney
