The issue with all the back to back Sundays is that WCE get a 6 day break whereas their opponents will have a 6-9 day break depending what day they played in the prior round.

From rounds 2-14 (after which times aren’t set) the breakdown is

Equal break for each team: 3 games
Eagles with longer break than their opponent: 2 games
Eagles with a shorter break than their opponent: 8 games!

Just what a young team needs.

Fixture difficulty doesnt mean much to me when the team is on the bottom, any fixture will be difficult if you assume we don't improve. If we do improve, we want to know we are reaching a standard, so it's good to have more games against top 8. Also stops getting stuck in mid table - where you aren't good enough but dont get draft capital.

My biggest gripe with the fixture is the dud start from a fan perspective. No home game until rnd 3 is BS, and due to us getting another Sunday game, it will be nearly 2 rounds completed before we even see our team play (thanks rnd 0).

I dont mind the start for the team's perspective. Get some winnable games mixed with some harder ones (GC/Syd/Cats) so the team can benchmark itself. Should be a huge focus all pre-season on knocking off GC away. Imagine the confidence that would drive.

What are you actually on about?

Every team has 11 “home” and 11 “away” games not including Gather Round.

We’ve got 11 home games at Optus, and two away games - one North home game where members can access their seats and one Freo home derby.

Which is the “pathetic” part?

The novelty of a fixture reveal video has faded for me (if I even felt it originally). This one really started to drag - would have liked it more if he was actually messaging ex Eagles who played for the club and giving them shit (Rosa, Darling and Rioli were prime targets to start the video).
