If North Melbourne and Carlton can have the "traditional" Good Friday Superclash, the Showdown, which is comfortably the biggest rivalry in the game, should get at least 1 standalone fixture a season.

The concept that if there's one Victorian team playing then all Victorians will watch it versus no Victorian team then no Victorians will watch it is certainly a strange one. They're too afraid to put it to the test.

Fair enough, i was probably being a bit tongue in cheek.

I wouldn't have thought Good friday during the day would be huge exposure anyway, lots of people are out and about doing things other than watching footy then.

And whilst a stand alone thursday night showdown might get more home viewers, it's not an ideal slot for actual attending the game.
